Bored of Brazil Thread

Would you take 5/1 on it?

I think offering odds of 5-1 against Brazil beating England is very generous. If you insist, I'll have £500 on it.

Send me a PM so we can exchange addresses and so whoever wins can get paid.

Thanks.

PS....If I win, I'll treat you to a night on the piss. :D

You would risk £200? Ok - I'll put £40 on England beating Brazil then at 5-1. We ought to pay some money into a neutral account.

I never gamble. :( Given England's glaring failings and injury problems, can you explain how there is reason to believe that they can beat Ecuador?
Yes. For starters, England have the better players. Also, Ecuador play a rigid 4-4-2, the formation which English players are most used to playing in and against week in week out. Ecuador have a couple of reasonable strikers but they rely almost totally on service from the wings, and England should be able to negate that. Regardless of what you might think of England's defence on Tuesday night, Ecuador won't have come up against a better one in the tournament so far. The other good thing from England's point of view is that Sweden gave them a scare the other night, a kick up the arse, which will have done them good.

I think England will beat Ecuador comfortably. Getting this far is the pinnacle of the Ecuadorians expectations and they will not be mentally up for it.

Two ...maybe three nil.

However in the quarter final England will get exposed for what they really are, if they play Holland. If It's Portugal, they'll have a 50/50 chance. If they somehow scrape through a game against Portugal, they will have to put in the performance of their collective lives to beat even a mediocre Brazil.

If that happens, prepare for total embarrassment against Argentina. That could be the most one sided world cup finals ever. Maybe even four or five nil.

Especially if Sven ups the stakes on the high risk strategy and plays Lampard, Gerrard and Cole upfront, with Walcott in the anchor midfield role and Gary Neville in goal. :D

Every game England has played so far should have given them a kick in the arse and they're still abysmal. Even if Rooney and Owen were fit (Crouch has no right to be on the pitch) their midfield would be incapable of supplying them cos they're too busy trying 30 yard potshots and letting Ferdinand play long balls to nowhere.
