boots glorious boots

The only HP boots I can see on the schuh site are these and they are a bit smartish for what I want.

As a side track while people find Kitty boots - is there anything you can do to widen the top of knee high boots?

I have a pair of Simon Bay boots which cost me a fortune and I wear very rarely cos I am tight and don;t want to ruin them. After not wearing them for about a year I dug them out for NYE. A year of spin classes has obviously had an effect on my calves as they were always tight but now don't fit!. Well on does up (as long as I don;t want any circulation in my leg) and the otehr stops about 2 inches from the top and will not go any further.

I love them and want to wear them again!! Is it possible? I went to a shoe menders and they said nothing they could do.

They are the most glorious boots I've ever owned. They are flat and they have two zips, the leather is really soft and matt and they have a really nice insulating lining which is really comfy and warm and perfect. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.
They don't have them on the website unfortunately :(

Wetting the leather and stuffing with screwed up newspaper can help them stretch, they do have a stretching machine but it's for the bottoms really (I had a similar problem last years and my cobbler did manage to stretch them a bit).

Wear them round the house for a bit hels loosen therm up, you can also try polisghing them and making the leather more supple/givey.

Seems you can buy boot stretchers at horsey places

I have a paitr of DMs like that, I got them cheaply from MandM Sports but they were really tight and unyielding. I can wear them but I refer to them as my leg splints because they are really very firm. This is despite wearing them in and stuff. I've not tried to stretch them because i can't really be bothered

Beautiful! But far to slick, tight and riding bootish for everyday where for me.

I know I am being very picky but I know that what I want is out there.

The DMs are by far the closest.

Thank you very much Brix. I know I am being a pain.

No, that's fine. Like I say, I'm shopping vicariously. I know what it's like when you have a picture of what you want in your head but can't find it - very frustrating.

I did get some lovely Clarks boots recently which are quite similar to the DM ones and were £60 in the sale. They're not on the Clark's website anymore but I'm sure there are some in the shops. It is worth checking in Clark's if you're going past one of their shops.

I have popped in to Clarks every time I have been past one for a fair while now and not seen anything.

My mum always lords it up when I see her with the gorgeous stuff she has found at Clarks, I never find anything,

Is it worrying that I have similar taste in shoes to my mother...? :hmm:

No, the older I get the more I realise that my mum was right about comfortable shoes being the way forward :D

I've found a (tiny) picture of the boots I got at Clark's. Actually they may be too slouchy for what you want but they're called 'Mary Fine' if they do look like the sort of thing you want. They're butter-soft and ridiculously comfortable.

I read my post banging on about how perfect they are and it is smug :o
