Books/films/telly etc everyone else finds funny but you don't get

Little Britain and Catherine Tate of those already mentioned, but I'll also weigh in with the omnipresent monstrosity that is Friends.

I don't get most of those shows either. I liked Rocky Horror, but didn't think it was meant to be laugh-out-loud funny. I alos like Friends. The rest, no.

A friend posted up a link to a Catherine Tate sketch, and loads of people chimed in sayng that it was the funniest thing they'd ever seen. There were also a few comments about how anyone who didn't like it must just be too PC.

It was a sketch of a woman pretending to talk foreign languages, and just making silly noises instead. It wasn't offensive, but it wasn't funny either. My GF and I sat there with blank faces, waiting for the punchline.

Same with the Mighty Boosh. The Russel Brand-a-like on that show was deadly funny on Buzzcocks, but I just didn't get the TV show at all.

Shame. We needed a new comedy to watch.

Seinfeld. The same cardboard sets, set up and predictable one liners as hundreds of other US sitcoms. Can't understand why is so rated.

It made me laugh. :D

Anything where a complete sketch is just a set-up for a catchphrase. Catherine Tate and the Fast Show, for example.

And Harry Enfield.

Green Wing
That Garlic Bread guy (I forget his name)

And another vote for Seinfeld. It's kind of ok but I don't get why it is thought of so highly. I have only ever laughed at one bit.
"what are you doing?"
"makin' sausages."

Frasier.
I remember it being very good but seen a few repeats on Paramount recently and it was just dull, predictable, sitcom rubbish. Ok they have a few great lines occasionally but for the most part, Frasier is involved in some kind of misunderstanding and hilarity doesn't ensue. :(

Terry Pratchett. Anything with Chris Evans in. The vast majority of the Edinburgh festival (with the exception of the Lou Reed biog film with Time Rockers in it).

His comedy is shite (except the Mask) but his serious stuff is Ace - Truman Show is one of my favourite films of all time, possibly THE favourite.

Mine too. He's quite good in serious films, but the films themselves are always good too - all his good taste and sense must be poured into the serious films he chooses, with nothing left for the comedies.

Green Wing
Everything Peter Kay has done in the last five years
Everything Gervais has done since The Office finished, especially his shit, unfunny stand-up shows
French & Saunders
Marcus Brigstocke
Have I Got News For You since Angus Deayton was fired
David Baddiel
The Friday Night Project - in fact, practically all Channel 4 "comedy" these days except the odd American import

95% of all the things listed so far aren't funny 95% of the time. Comedy has to be just right or catch you in the mood.

As for Radio 4 comedy - god damn that stuff is shit.
