When's your next single out, then?

As soon as I can con the music media into thinking I'm some kind of genious. Cos I mumble a lot and look abit fucked.

Still him having hit singles doesn't negate my assessment.

Do you feel the same about all other drug users, then? Or perhaps those who choose not to contribute to society in some "meaningful" way?

Don't get me wrong, I'm just being argumentative for the sake of it, not having a dig at you (I could have quoted a few, innit), even though it might seem that way.

I guess it's the whole thing, really. I'm not super impressed with PD, but I'm *fucking* bored of this cycle of... he gets press, he gets slated. Easy target, yawn, and so on.

you guys are going too far,

the guy is a musician and fairly good too. not a legend but i am sure he knows he isn't. a lot of people like him so he milks the market a bit. is not worse than any other business person for instance.

also in regards to drugs. i think he likes to look a bit fucked but isn't all that hardcore anyway. he looked so sober and young on glastonbury anyway.

hes an ace songwriter, captivating performer and top lyricist, better than anyone of his generation at the moment.

Good luck with the single, btw...

;)

heh. Tar.

It's not the fact PD uses drugs. Although having said that, he seems to be living quite a fucked up life for someone who's got a kid. Then again, I don't pay much attention to the tabloids.

Really it's just that when ever I've heard him. He just irritates the piss out of me for some reason. The fact he's so fawned (SP?) over is probably more annoying than the effect he has himself. But it just adds to this whole colt of Pete. Seems to reflect upon a wider celebration of mediocraty. Any half way rebellious youth who has access to a record studio is treated like they have something to say and are mercesly touted before the public. Sure I could have attempted to form a critical annalisys of his relative musical tallents and supposed carisma. No one bothers trying that with the likes of James Blunt et al though. And It's just more satisefying calling those celebs who irc you, names.

In short
:)

He hasn't had a hit single. The highest he has been on the charts was number 8.

And makes you really, really fucking famous. In case you've been asleep or some such shit. Except of course, you haven't because you know what we're talking about.

Eh? Eh.

Besides, it's 900 records more than Enya has sold in the last decade, though, innit.

:)

Enya's last 3 albums have sold 24 million copies altogether!

And she lives in a castle.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Anyway, and to echo copliker, Enya has sold 78 million albums in her career.

How many has fuckface sold?

I cannot believe I've somehow become the defender of Pete.

Where's cheesy when you need her?

:D

Anyway, it was only a joke (sales are not guarantee of quality, etc etc etc). Obviously not a very funny one, but hey, this is me posting.

:p

Neither is absolutely failsafe, though. :)

He he i know. I mean, just because your not popular doesn't mean your total shit. However the shambles are shit and i can't think, apart from the Libertines that were ok, how he can be applauded on a musical level.

Lets be honest, he's famous for dating a model and doing drugs, not his musical talents.

I'm just jealous i never thought of it first......

I suppose people might want to argue this description of him but being all of the above and having a band that has a sound akin to a horse pissing on gallon drum kinda makes it mute point....dont ya know!

I would rather watch badly drawn boy....and he is really fuckin shite!

It's interesting (well, maybe not) that Doherty can generate such divided opinion - e.g. at Glastonbury I saw Babyshambles and found them generally indifferent and downright embarrassing when Kate Moss came on. Much later that night, in Trash City, I discussed it with a guy from Glasgow who'd found the show, "Life changing" (by which I think he meant "life enhancing").

Pete isn't great on guitar, and his singing is a bit weak. But put these things together with his songwriting and lyrics and the results are magic. If you're completely analytical about it, you won't get it, but music isn't really analytical; it's about feeling, and all the great ones capture that. Pete's got that quality.

No he hasn't, Leonard Cohen has though!

No, he's really not. There's a bloke who plays acoustic guitar and sings his own songs round where I live, and his voice and lyrics are miles better than Pete's.

He writes mediocre songs and takes loads of drugs, he is not the defining musician of my generation, no fucking way.

haha...hoho indeed. you've been mugged!
his music is shit. his lyrics are 3rd year wank. he's a talentless posturing wanker who wants to be jim morrison but hasn't even got the 'skills' of sid vicious. his personna is a media construct (yes, i knew him for years before he became famous and saw his shitty menswear tribute band on numerous occassions before and after the stylists and management advisors got in on the act). you wanna get your ears syringed and have some sense slapped into your lead-dense head if you think otherwise. pete from 'big brother' has more talent! muppet.:)
