A day by the seaside never fails to disappoint...

Here's a look back at last year's thread, the Dog and Duck in a residential square just off the seafront was indeed very good and packed full of rabble pre-match. Decent hike to the ground from there but worth it.

I missed last season, but I'll be going to this one, my first visit since the 2017 play-off final. There's certainly been a lot of water under the bridge since then. Bognor beat us, but came straight back down while we went up the following year. This would certainly be an opportune moment to register our first league points for a month. At least the weather should be nice!

Following the discussion on Binnom-Williams in the Cray Valley PM thread, can’t decide if this is intentional or not.

Five consecutive losses, one goal scored in nearly nine hours of football:

Someone said on another thread that this feels like the season we got relegated from the conference south which is bang on. On a dreadful run with no sign of a win and just hoping that others don't win enough games to catch us.

3 depressing messes of a season in a row. Feel jealous of those that go and don't give a toss about the football.

I can actually see Bognor getting the three wins to overtake Dulwich. Hastings run in looks too tough for them to do that and Hendon probably won’t be tough enough to get the results they need though if the Hamlet keep misfiring the club might actually be praying for a Hendon win on the final day to keep them up.

Can’t see Bognor beating Horsham

We were over the worst of that season well before now. It was the one point from 10 games in January and February that really cost us then. We were unbeaten in 5 games going into the final day.

We made 6 changes to the XI from last week, with Mason reported injured and the other 5 dropped to the bench, while Hudson returned after a month out. We were a goal down and chasing the game after 3 minutes. We made a triple substitution after less than 10 minutes of the second half. Our best efforts at goal were several headers off target, I don't recall their keeper making a real save, and Berry had to make several saves to keep the margin to a single goal.

I'm weary of trying to analyse these defeats. Our February revival was based on picking the same XI every week, but a few injuries undermined that, and now we appear to be rearranging deckchairs on a sinking ship.

Bognor and Hastings each have a much worse goal difference than us, so one more point effectively puts us beyond them even if they win all 3 games. Hendon have had one win in the last 21 games, which was last weekend, and are still 5 points behind with 3 to play. Beat Canvey next Saturday, and if Hendon fail to beat Chatham we're safe with 2 to spare, but what a bloody shambles.

No chance.

Knew I’d find a use for this quote one day.
Have you actually watched any of these teams this season? Horsham are a bloody good side and still contesting top place, or pole position in the play-offs. Bognor are a poor side, albeit good enough to defeat us today. It was like a cup defeat away to a lower division side whose players are not individually as good as ours, but outfought us. We may well lose our remaining games, but I don't see the point in making out Bognor to be warriors who will fight to the death and triumph. They're in a deeper hole than us because they've been even worse than us over 39 games. I don't think they would have beaten many other teams in this division today never mind the best other teams.

We are an uncoordinated mess of a team with zero confidence at the moment . In my opinion ...The only time in the last few years we have had an effective structure was at the start of this season was with the 2 wingers and big centre forward with a reasonable midfield. Both Wanadio and Jeffrey were in good form and we steamrollered a few teams. However , Other teams soon realised our strength and doubled up them and we had no plan B.

Since then we dont seem to have any plan or structure to our play. Carshalton and Chatham look difficult games for this team/coaches and I just hope we get past Canvey and Hendon dont will all 3 ....or 2 if succumb to Canvey

Another poor performance, second to every ball, lacking aggression and allowing opponents time and space on ball. Strange team selection, Marshall, Bonnett Johnson and Kaunda missing despite being our better players of late. Williams Bushell, Binnom Williams especially poor, just like last few weeks.

Players lack desire, coaching seems ineffective, nobody seems to care. relegation very very likely unless other teams do us a big favour

I wasn't there, but I wonder how Dulwich conceded the goal.
Low right wing cross eluded defenders in the middle, a shot was blocked by Berry, ball looped up into the area and another forward bundled it over the line before he could recover. That was only the 3rd minute, and we'd already had one let off when a half chance was mis-hit straight at Berry. We ended up chasing the game and looking vulnerable on the break without Bognor having to take unnecessary risks. By my reckoning we've lost all of the last 10 games in which we've conceded the first goal, as well as several during the same period when we've scored first. The last time we came from behind to earn a point was at Lewes 4 months ago.
