Bodyshock Half Ton Son on Channel 4 now (2200) anyone else watching?

I have no idea how many calories I eat per day but I did get a takeaway mid sized pizza with everything on it including extra anchovies and found that I could not finish it.

It stank of flavours as it looked up at me from the box but there was just no way I could eat any more.

I've been overloading on obesity documentaries especially the American ones involving extreme surgery. Realised I'm snacking less as a result, eating smaller portions and even I went for a run round the park at the weekend. I'm fascinated by how far a stomach can expand to given that it's only supposed to hold small amounts.

Yep, same here. I've got a voracious appetite but very rarely am able to finish meals in most restaurants or whatever - I marvel at the sheer amount they must consume.

But as has been mentioned, it is the relative lack of activity which really accelerates the weight gain.

If you are rowing and weight training, then for sure you can probably eat as many high quality calories as you can cram in.

I can't bear people who will sit there and cry about how terrible their self constructed situation is whilst continuing to make it worse. You could tell he saw a gastric band op as a get out of jail free card - a license to continue stuffing his face until the next operation.

How would all that have been funded? Would the family be paying themselves? I suppose that is why they did the docu.

I actually wondered what they were living on in order to feed him, since he obv wasn't working ... and since this is America and there's no NHS and precious little welfare...

I wondered how the op was paid for -- by the film makers? Or because it was so risky/ experimental by the doctors themselves wanting to make a name for themselves.

Seriously doubt it would have been by taxpayers.
