I can't go near lush shops. I'll throw up from the smell. Puts me off any of their stuff.

I used to feel that way about Lush too. The strange thing is, if you can hold your breath until you get inside the shop, it really doesn't smell so over-powering. :)

Some of thier bath bombs are luuuuuurverly. :)

Or buy online :)

I use Aqueous Cream BP from Superdrug (or Boots, or any pharmacy). It's completely unbranded and very cheap, £1.99 for an enormous tub.

My mum introduced me too it (she suffers from v dry skin and her doctor recommended it) and I've never looked back - it's ace! It's completely water-based (but very thick) and absorbs very quickly, and your skin feels so soft after you've put it on. It's completely non-allergenic and has no smell.

And cos it's so cheap you can get through loads of it without it breaking the bank.

han - I guess you ask for it over the counter? Mind give it a whirl if I can ever stop using my usual one. Thing is, for me the smell is so much a part of the experience...

I use Australian Organics evening primrose oil body lotion with essential oils of patchouli, sweet orange & ylang ylang. It smells delicious and it's £3.99 from Holland & Barratt. I get through butt loads of the stuff!

Nope, it's on the shelves in the shop :)

Han - it can cause irritation in some (few) people, some manufacturers vary the ingredients slightly.

Since recently I haven't had to buy body lotion. I use an internal skin moisturising method.

Human skin is amazing. It protects you from viruses and bacteria, it's waterproof, it protects you from ultraviolet, it keeps you cool, it stretches with you, and does all sorts of other amazing stuff. It does all this, yet these lotion companies want me to believe that my skin can't even keep itself moist? Bullshit.

Skin is not flawed. If something is going wrong, it must be an environmental factor. The most obvious factor to me, directly related to skin health, is food and drink. So basically I drink large quantities of hemp seed oil mixed with olive oil, daily. About one 175ml wine glass does it. How it works, is that once the oil is ingested, it is emulsified by the bile in the gall bladder, and basically broken down into tiny little droplets. These oily droplets are then taken up by my skin cells and gradually released by the sebacious glands, giving it a thin, oily coating, leaving it moist and supple, with a nice, smooth sheen. No need for lotion!

I have sensitive skin and anything too perfumed makes me have a rash..not a good look so i stick to baby oil gel straight onto damp skin.. works for me.

Wish i could go for something that smelt really good though.

Oh yeh... and Palmers. (although the bottles design is crap so you can never get everything out, which is annoying!)

i usually get half way through then cut the bottle open with a bread knife  :D

bought a bottle with a pump on it but then the pump broke...so, out came the bread knife!

Baby oil smells lovely! And you get all those ones now with cammomile or aloe vera and stuff that have a slight smell.

Dont underestimate the smell of a newly oiled body. Its mmmmmmm ;)

yes definately agree about the bad design of the palmers bottles. halfway through when the opening at the top gets all clogged and refuses to emit cocoa butterness, i have to store the thing upside down and unscrew the lid everytime i wanna use some, tap tap tap on the bottom until the thing comes out in huge globs.

Neutrogena Comfort Balm for every day, Laura Mercier Tarte au Citron body lotion for occasions.

Superdrug's "skin essentials" body lotion with sweet almond oil is good for me. Suits my skin which hates over-perfumed stuff and it's very cheap. Although not as cheap as the stuff Han recommends which I might try next time.

I had great success with a wrist flick action: when it stops putting out, hold the bottom of the bottle and flick it sharply forward several times (lid still on, obviously). Then unscrew the lid and there should be great clumps of fresh goo awaiting your pleasure at the top of the neck.

I use a Superdrug cheapy, they used to do one for 65p for a large bottle but seem to have discontinued it :( Have also been using a Sanctuary one that was a present which was really nice (unfortunately just finished it).
I really hate the smell of baby oil so would never buy that but a nurse friend recommended the Aqueous cream so I might give that a try.

I covered myself in Kyphi this morning and subsequently floated around all day (as best one can in snow and ice) like an Egyptian goddess  :D
