have you just come here to bail haylz out or to share her stupidity. this was meant to be a threa about bob woolmer and so a bit of respect would have been nice. do you have to de-rail or even post on something you have no interest. just close the door on the way out and let those that want to comment about the actual topic in hand alone. if you want to make this personal then please pm me and dont mess up a perfectly fine thread.

What are you the thread police

What have spiked hair and collars got to do with anything?
ddraig has a deep rooted hatred of cricket and believes that all that participate are spikey haired public school boys. i personally play for a team with not one public school boy or anyone with spikey hair (not that i'd care either way).

i think its more likely you told him to post here haylz dont you think. for someone that has no interest in cricket why did he post on here? - not such a big boy after all then is he really when he does as you tell him to! :p

It can only be about money, surely.

Fwiw, I can even imagine a scenrio where more than one betting group was involved in the same match, and desirous of different results.

That would mean two or three key Pakistani players were playing for one result, the coach another . . . all in my imagination, of course.

A potentially interesting screenplay, as well.

this is definately being specualted at the mo by a number of sources. does anyone think that South Africa or England will send their own police officers over to deal with matters? - there seems to be a problem with ht elocal police so would it be approapriate in this instance for his country of residence or country of birth to investigate the crime?

doesnt take a genius to sense something fishy when pakistan lose to ireland.

No indeed. In fact, that result was about as close to impossible as Bob Woolmer flying to the moon. So there's no great mystery about the motive here. Its like when that Colombian football player got murdered a week after scoring an own goal against the USA.

indeed. i just hope they dont cancel the cup as that would send out the wrong signals. i know its stereotyping but controversy seems to surround the sub continent teams more regularly than others. i just cant imagine australia ever throwing a match. if (big if) the circumstances have anything to do with match fixing, then cancelling the cup would send out a message that acion of this nature gets results, which must be seen as a bad thing. lets hope we see some good cricket in the super 8 stage and a lot of passion to go with it.

Trouble is though, we must now assume that the World Cup is fixed.

not neccessarily. the only team to have been associated or accused in any way of match fixing were the pakistan team. they are now out of the cup. so hopefully the remaining teams will be free to fight it out properly amongst themselves. i wouldnt put it past south africa to do well now so they can win it for their old mate bob.

Well I suppose we can't *assume* it was about match-fixing until its proved, and so everyone has to pretend that it might have been just a random intruder, and the games will continue. There's too much money at stake anyway. But I suspect that match-fixing (not always the result, but the number of runs scored or wickets taken by particular players etc) is very widespread in international cricket, especially among the subcontinental teams as you say.

For the purposes of preserving my money, I have "assumed" exactly that.

Bangladesh vs. India ?
yeah - that must have raised a few eyebrows too. lets hope sri lanka arent involved as i put a bet on them at the outset so they better not throw any matches! :D

An additional point is that in Pakistan and India all gambling is illegal*, and therefore the whole scene is underground and criminalised to start with.

(*one exception I believe is in India you're allowed to gamble on horse racing if you're actually at the racecourse)

I heard the interview on TV last night with a teammate. It all seemed wackily surreal and when his team mate described him as 'slightly overweight' I cracked up. I was stoned :o

Not sure what was funny now :(
