Thanks. In the case of Woolas, "at best naive, at worst sinister" would be filed under "takes one to know one". He is a nasty scumbag who has played into the hands of racists.

It suits Labour to do things that way, it sounds macho and they can run round saying "oh you have to vote for us now or the BNP might win".

I dont think anyone thinks that this kind of stuff is going to undermine the bnp, but theres nothing wrong with having a laugh

It's an own goal of monumental proportions. The artwork publicises the role played by Polish people in helping Britain to defeat the Nazis.

The ignorance of the BNP speaks volumes about their tawdry pretentiousness.

Almost as well known as the Polish heroes of the Battle of Britain, is the role that Polish researchers played in the design and construction of Enigma, the electro-mechanical computing device that was used to crack and eavesdrop on the communications of the Nazi military.

The British code breaking machines were based on work by Marian Rejewski.

If anyone hasn't seen the Battle of Britain monument on Victoria Embankment yet, I highly recommend taking a trip down there to have a look. It really is a superb piece of work.

Oh, I don't know. Using a Polish Spitfire used in the Battle of Britain as a rallying call to stop immigration is pretty fucking stupid.

All it does remind normal people of the incredible sacrifice made by Eastern Europeans for Britain.

This is an excellent read

Yep, took a photo of it the other week when b/f's brother was over and I was sending them on a boat to the Tower of London. Was taking photos of them on boat and stumbled across the monumnet. I like it

Aye, the extent of Polish resistance to the Nazis & Soviets is quite astonishing and little appreciated in the West.

Yep, and I think there's a lot that don't understand the resentment there is from some Poles towards the British "selling them out to the Russians"

Agreed.

Squadron Leader Jan Zumbach, the pilot of that aircraft, is a good old British name and I'm sure that the BNP can hold the bloke up as a great British hero.

Just to get technical for a moment, 303 were flying hurricanes in the battle of Britain and the aircraft pictured in the BNP poster is a MK5b or maybe a MK 9. Bit hard to tell from that photo but it's not a 1A that was in service at the time of the battle.
If pushed I'll go for a 5B as it has the cannon but it looks like a single stage merlin.
It's a tad more stupid than you thought Ed. :)

Sorry, I'm an anorak for WW2 RAF stuff.
