Heavens no I just think that Albarn & Coxon often indulge themselves too much and start to extend the album and lose coherency. Other than Parklife and Blur all their albums start to get a bit messy after a while. The Great Escape is a good example, I can't remember more than five tracks out of the fifteen in it. The "artsy" dig was directed at that tendency of them to extend things over their need, not in a "artsy posh middle-class ladyboys" fashion.
A couple of people today have said to me that Blur have said they'll be playing a series of lower key gigs around Essex, possibly including Braintree Towerlands. I can't find much on google though, anyone got any more info?
Albarn was on Front Row yesterday - they're definitely going to play lots of low-key gigs in places that mean something to them, including around Colchester.
Sweet. Getting ticket will be a fucking nightmare tho
Towerlands is a cool venue, quite big but easily accessible. I've only seen one gig there, that was Prodigy a few years back, but the sound was fantastic.
