Why is Hilary Benn a cunt? Or do you just like the way it feels to type it?

Well he certainly doesn't have the same views as his dad. Bit of a Blairbot but in his favour when he worked at DFID he did insist on being very thoroughly briefed from what I've heard.

Looks like its going to be that cunt, Hilary Benn.

He's been a "caretaker" (read "safe pair of Blairite non boat-rocking hands") in loads of junior ministerial posts, so I'm not surprised to see him emerge here. He's another of the ideology-free brigade that Blair loves so much, so I doubt he'll scruple overmuch about the reforms Blair has planned, I just wish that the Blairite mantra of "what works" meant "what works for the people" not "what works for business".

Good riddence but his replacement is probably going to be even worse.

Maybe not for sexual misdemeanours, but for everything else he probably will be, Hutton is a bit like Frank Field, but without the rabies.

Palpably stupid, as well.

Hmmm, if someone who hadn't palpably proven their own stupidity over the course of many threads had said that to me then I might have given it credence. As it is...

Still, far be it for me to stop you making your small-minded interjections into matters that don't concern you (to whit: the ongoing discussions between myself and tbaldwin as to the extent of his credulity and ignorance) as they come to you, but I would be grateful if you didn't direct any of your poorly-designed aperçus at me as I may be tempted to reply in an intemperate manner.

My advice (which you'll doubtless not take, for reasons obvious to anyone who has had any experience of your input to this site) is that you should direct your attention elsewhere. I'd suggest to your navel.

OK whose for a sweepstake - on how many days before Blunket is back in government.

I'll go for 273.

I'm with what Jezza said earlier -- he won't be back I don't think.

Not that that's all that important now :(

I note that quite a few people have added to the poll AFTER his decision to resign was announced.

Cheeky!
Imagine the scene...you come across a poll asking you whether something that's happened will happen...

What's a poster to do?

And my advice to you (which you'll doubtless not take, for reasons that are obvious) is to take your pompous prattle, and stick it were the sun don't shine.

true, but there's a big diff: blunkett was the last blairite 'big hitter' left. blair is now unbelievably isolated, as he tries to push through the most evil part of his reforms. the sense of him losing his grip on power is huge.
i give blair 6 months, before he decides it's not worth the grief

Are there any EU commissioners up for retirement soon? If so, I would expect Blunkett to be sent off to Strasbourg just like that slimey Mandelson geezer.

Mmmm, the obvious reason for not taking your advice has a lot to do with the foolishness of taking advice from a person who fawns and grovels to anyone who might pat his addled pate..

As for "pompous prattle", you chose to start this little exchange of views. I reserve the right to reply to your accusations and insinuations, and you should be grateful that I do so in language that even a moral imbecile such as yourself can understand.
Put up or shut up.

Not that I expect you to "stand and fight like a man", you have the character of a schoolyard hardman, the sort who talks tough to people until they get annoyed, and then runs to the teacher to protect him. I only wonder in amazement that the moderators of this site aren't heartily sick of you.

Is it true that you've worn out the "report post" button on your screen?

That or get foisted on some poor Commonwealth state as "High Commissioner" a la Boateng.
