I've got a rare day off today and rolling news services are going for it on the Blunkett story big time.
We've had civil servants, Labour MPs and various "commentators" - everyone bar his mother in fact - laying into him.
Will he be in post by tomorrow morning?
It is surprising that this hasn't been a major issue on here too.
Blunkett has, shamelessly, shown no remorse, whatsoever, for his disgracefully hypocritical actions as a deliberately corrupt Home Secretary. To fasttrack a permenant visa for somebody for personal gain, whilst putting barres on those who Blunkett knew needed, and knew that many of the people he blocked had their lives put in jeopardy if they were to be repatriated automatically, is, IMO, not just a resignation issue, but should have also been a criminal one too.
Now we find that he buys shares in Companies, puts his name to them, ties those companies up with the Government he serves, and then plans to sell them off when their value inevitably goes up.
Anyone remember cash for questions? Anyone remember that such deviant acts were condemned by his Party as crooked when they were in opposition?
Well then. David Blunkett is a Crook, so maybe he may fit in to Blairs future plans as he makes him Pensions Secretary, dealing with Private Insurance companies, whilst screwing the elderly out of more money.
