Blue screen - Driver IRQL not less or equal

I think I know what's causing it but how do I get beyond the blue screen to sort it out? My PC has been crashing since my mate installed Kaspersky on it (the laptop also crashes with the same message periodically and it's the only thing they have in common)

I'm assuming it'll stop once I uninstall Kaspersky but it keeps crashing before I get the chance. What can I do?

Oh, this is doing my fucking head in now

It won't let me uninstall kaspersky in safe mode and the fucker keeps crashing before I can get in to remove it


What if I kick it and beat it with sticks, will that work?

Can you get to a system restore point in safe mode?

Off the top of me head you'll find it here: Start / All Programs / Accessories / Sytem Tools / System Restore.

You should find a restore point there from just before you installed Kasperski.

If it stays up long enough that is...

I tried that when the problem started and for some reason it won't let me go back to a date before kasperski was installed. It's driving me batshit. And now it won't stay up long enough to do anything.

Got the xp install disk? You could pop it in and choose repair - you won't lose owt, and it might work...

A quick google shows you're not alone.... just reading some threads now.

I'll try to dig out the disc. The computer's quite old now and I can't remember where the discs are
