I did chuckle a bit when I was reading up on how to deal with the Slug Menace, and they advised the use of "bait plants" - ie, plants which the slugs would eat in preference to your valuable crops. And what was on that list? Yep, marigolds

I never knew about the Marigolds as slug baiters, I do now
We will win in the end

Yeah, I have 2 beer traps in the border, now, and one yeast'n'sugar one (for comparison). The marigolds got mullered again last night, I think there's one left intact now. Short-term, I think I'm going to hit 'em with some metaldehyde, while I ponder my options.

My other pressing problem is the fucking cats using my potato rows as a handy rolling-around place. Water spray is fun, and yelling at them is cathartic, but they just seem to do the cat equivalent of sticking two fingers up at me and coming back. And I can't afford to let Ms Pembrokestephen or the Small One see me being too brutal to them

i reckon whoever comes up with slug remover that works properly in a sustained way is going to end up a squillionarre without a shadow of a doubt
I sometimes have to wait to til Miss hoard is out of the way before I go on an angry cull
At the moment the moggies are bieng twats I pissed on a tom cat the other day and it aint been back, our moggies are just too drowsy at the mo cos of the heat.
