Bloody "comedy" tracks on albums

Why do so many artists have to include "comedy" message type tracks (usually on hip hop albums) which are only very occasionallly funny the first time.

I'm sick of having to keep skipping through a 20 track CD to listen to an 8 song album. I remember this was one of the main reasons I didn't buy the Fugees 'Score' album years ago and I was just trying to listen to the Lil Kim album and it's still the same bollocks. I didn't pay for a def comedy jam cd thanks.

I don't mind if it's a one off, like the bit before The Prodigy 'Their Law' which always makes me laugh, or some of the samples which preceed the Manics 'Holy Bible' album because these at least add a bit to the songs but comedy pre-recorded answer phone ghetto-speak messages really piss me off.

Anyone else wish to indulge in their most annoyingly filled CD full of silly comedy tracks which are skipped through every time?

Miseducation of Lauryn Hill doesn't have comedy bits, but does have little interludes with annoying people talking about luuurve. They are even added on to then end of tracks so you can't skip them.

'Speakerboxxx'/'The Love Below' by Outkast is a brilliant record, but it would be even better without such 'hilarious' asides such as 'Where Are My Panties?' or whatever it's called...

Indeed; there's quite a bit of dross on that one. I condensed and re-burned it recently.

Amen. The comedy sections are physically painful to listen to. I have the same problem with a lot of Frank Zappa albums- does comedy belong in music? Well yes if it's funny, but it never is.

Yeah but 'Crew Filth' by The Fall is all right! :D

I agree otherwise. Especially when it's part of the track you want to hear... :(

Absolutely, 'Crew Filth' is hilarious - probably because it's a real life recording of a bunch of pissed blokes rather than a staged, self-conscious effort to be funny!

I reckon half man half biscuit have made a career out of doing comedy songs , they are also some of the most intellignet songs I've ever heard and could teach some of the "classic" song writers like dylan a lesson or two IMO !

I love a good skit.... :D :o

especilly some of the eminem ones about micheal jackson, thats a bit genius seeing as he fit so many song titles in it..... and the bit about the gun lol....

the where are my panties bit is quite funny too on the outkast album...
