Bloody Argos

No, I'm not a "play around with it and see what happens" type of person. I'll break it. And I'm afraid WouldBe's instructions make no sense to me. How do I know what a base panel is? Or a mid panel? You're assuming DIY knowledge where there is none.

And while I am not disparaging Alex B's mad DIY Skillz, I don't think he'd just have a go without the instructions either.

Look at the picture, count and sort out the number of different 'kinds' of panel/screw/whatever. Compare the shapes and sizes of bits you have to said picture. You can tell which bits are the sides and ends of the actual 'bed' bit immediately. Then continue in this manner i.e. start from the bed and work down. Drawers will be the hardest bit, so leave them till last.

Well, the instructions arrived yesterday and I'm glad we waited. The bed was assembled in a very counter-intuitive way - kind of from the inside outwards. If I'd just started with the end panels and the base I would've had to take it apart again to assemble the storage compartments.

We had a bed delivered today, flatpack. Just unpacked it to find there's no instruction manual. Called customer services, it could be up to TWO WEEKS until we get the manual because it counts as a "spare part".

Now there's the parts and a mattress cluttering up my small flat for the foreseeable

You should have got a man to do it! they never look at the instructions anyway and the left over bits are always spare bits that aren't needed! :hmm:

Well where is the fun in that?

To be fair, those beds are designed for the secure concealment of abducted chavlettes, so it's important to get the air vents into the storage compartments exactly right.

Yeah! Men! They're all the same!

As mentioned, my man Alex B has now put the bed together with no problems. Because he clever and smart and waited for the instructions.

It's more fun without instructions. I don't think I've ever looked at instructions for flatpack. Most of it lasted too :)
