Blokes: chick flicks you secretly like

Clueless is actually a very good, satirical and clever film, and doesn't deserve to be associated with the mindless popcorn which otherwise dominates this thread :)

Clueless is based on Emma - the class & social manners based storyline transposes to the clique nature of US high schools well. The trick that Amy Heckerling managed was to update it well.

The best ever high school movie is still Heathers.

So are you saying that because it is based on Emma, the satire is incidental and wholly attributable to the Bronte?

Heathers is amazing but is definitely a bloke's film

rd i dont think clueless is very satirical. This is how i belive posh schools in the valley actually are.

beverly hill 90210 et al taught me this.

Funny and decent film though.

Well, Emma itself is a satire - Heckerling's skill was to make the update utterly credible and fun and still keep a nice sharp and mean edge to it...

Tragically some actors appear to have made a career out of rom-coms, and have not made any other type of film in their entire lives.

Paul Rudd is a pretty decent comic actor IMO. OK he's got a bit of a niche in mainstream (not nescessarily "rom") comedy roles, but I don't see what's tragic about it.

I don't think it's gay to enjoy a chick flick, especially if it's with your other half.

On the other hand, liking musicals is definitely suspect. :D
Real men don't want story lines, they want explosions, lasers, space ships, gratuitous nudity and kick ass martial arts stuff.
