Erm.. I really, really hate rom-coms so tend to avoid them but does "Sense & Sensibility" count? I liked that.
Clueless is actually a very good, satirical and clever film, and doesn't deserve to be associated with the mindless popcorn which otherwise dominates this thread

It's v.funny indeed, written by the wonderful Tina Fey.
It's the only film I've seen Lindsay Lohan in but shes very good in it.
It's witty stuff, and definitely transcends the 'chick flick' genre.

Clueless is based on Emma - the class & social manners based storyline transposes to the clique nature of US high schools well. The trick that Amy Heckerling managed was to update it well.

Paul Rudd is a pretty decent comic actor IMO. OK he's got a bit of a niche in mainstream (not nescessarily "rom") comedy roles, but I don't see what's tragic about it.
