These people have taken space in the South Lodon Press recently.
Not sure if this is good or bad - or indeed who paid who!

Surely they are trying to do a Harry Enfield Loads-a-Money type of thing - or even Michael Caine/Get Carter. Pity Popes Road car park has been replaced by Pop Brixton. We could have pushed him off the top of the old car park!

This is nouveau riche spivvy stuff - not the real inherited wealth class who put their money abroad in the the British Virgin Islands (or Gibraltar). At least they don't look intelligent enough for that.

In fact, before it became well-known as "South Chelsea" in the '70s, back when it was unlovingly referred to by locals as "Crapham Junction". :)

I was wondering whether this romance of edgy and vibrant and purportedly rough areas like Brixton started right there.

Surely "Up the Junction" revolves around a bored bourgeois young lady of Chelsea seeking solace in working class Battersea only to end up "up the spout" so to speak.

That's always been my theory. It crept along from riverside Battersea, up Cedars Rd and into Clapham, and along Falcon Rd, St John's Rd and Northcote Rd into Balham, and then eastward from there. :(

What can I say? Some poshoes like the common touch! :D

    vanquish
verb: vanquish; 3rd person present: vanquishes; past tense: vanquished; past participle: vanquished; gerund or present participle: vanquishing
    defeat thoroughly.
    "he successfully vanquished his rival"
    synonyms: conquer, defeat (utterly), beat (hollow), trounce, annihilate, triumph over, win a resounding victory over, be victorious over, best, get the better of, worst, bring someone to their knees, overcome, overwhelm, subdue, subjugate, put down, quell, quash, crush, repress, rout;

'Vanquish' sounds like the sort of name that the cunts on the Apprentice would use for their dickhead teams undertaking dickhead exercises. They 'boast' (by re-tweeting on their twitter feed a BBC News item) that the Help to Buy Scheme which is available on their 'investment opportunities' is used by those who don't need it - which I imagine is most of their clients. I imagine they would be the sort of people who despise government intervention unless of course they are profiting from it. Diamond CUNTS - that glisten CUNTS anway you look at them.

They are a low-rent version of this famous promo that was pulled after widespread ridicule. Pukka should read Puke.

I thought they sounded like a less exploitative version of this:

Jeez, that's awful. I'd like to contact them to point out the inappropriateness of that signage. I'm guessing that it will be there in some shape or size during the construction too.

editor can i use the pic as I'm not nearby at the moment?

If you think that making money is more important than having even the slightest consideration or respect for the community and your neighbours, then yes, it's fucking hilarious.

You don't think the placement of the sign is slightly amusing?

It'll be gone in no time don't worry editor. Calm down.

No, I don't. I think it's crass and disrespectful, as do lots of people on facebook. I thought I'd made that clear. But you keep chortling away to yourself if it pleases you so.

As many others have said, it's now beyond parody.

I honestly think there's a good chance Banksy's used his new found wealth to set this company up as a particularly pretentious piece of #ironic performance art.

I was quite stumped trying to think up an April Fools for Brixton this year because this bunch of ridiculous twats had already surpassed anything I could dream up.

I said it was needlessly offensive and difficult to explain to children who used to go to the nursery.

Even if it doesn't get upheld it might make Mr Harris think carefully about his impact on the community. Block Porn might seem like a great idea after a mojito and cocaine session, but perhaps he'll rethink it when he's sober.

I've also notified the brilliant Jacqui Dyer about this. She's a councillor for Vassall Ward. @jahkey2u

Misleading info, for starters. They are not 'bang in the middle of Brixton Village.' That is a fat lie.

I think the nursery and church have gone.

Went to have a look today.

If the nursery and church have gone it's a loss. The "porn" developers are part of the gentrification of London. That's the bigger issue. This is a row of shops that are mainly affordable ordinary shops. Now central Brixton is getting the full on gentrification treatment this is next bit of Lambeth to go. Sickening.
