What worries me is that if someone gets knocked unconscious and comes round in a few weeks time they will have problems establishing if he has brain damage. One of the standard questions they ask is 'Who is Prime Minister?'.
You can see how much I care about this issue. I am delighted that Blair is finally to go, but Brown will be no improvement. None of the press has shown any interest in who will be chancellor and that is a crucial job. Whoever gets it should be his own man but how will he/she be able to stray from the path set out by Prudence Brown, especially now that the economy is getting wobbly?
Brown as prime minister will I think be very much playing a part like an actor. I hope he restores the Cabinet to its proper role because that might help to restore some democracy. He will make a lot of very visible cosmetic changes as he will start fighting the next election from the minute of his coronation. I wonder if he will do anything to restore democracy in the non-parliamentary labour party to get some supporters back. I won't hold my breath on that though, he probably doesn't recognise that there is a problem.
I am glad that Reid is going, but I wonder what he has up his sleeve for later. It would make my day if I heard that Hazel Blears decided to stand down in order to spend more time with her family.
