You're so full of yourself. You never made it clear what you were saying about the Dems and Repubs. In fact, it's a bit of a strawman argument.

It makes no difference which party is in power but Bush, the Zionists and the Xtian right are currently in the driving seat. Even if the Dems won the White House, it would still be the same, so I don't see what point you're tyring to make. If anything it just adds to the pointless circularity of your argument.

You're not weaselling out of it that easy. You accused me of not knowing anything about American politics because I said the Democrats supported Israel just as much as the Republicans. Now how bout that explanation? If you want to take it back then apologise...

You know exactly what my point was. The circular discussion you refer to is YOU making accusations about me you cannot back up. My point was that both parties have no choice but to pander to the Jewish vote. You place too much emphasis on the Christian Right, because altho they are important when it comes to Israel, they have other priorities when it comes to elections before Israel, whereas the Jewish vote can be swayed solely on support for Israel. This applies equally to Republicans and Democrats, and that is why I have made many references to "domestic pressure/constraints" - something I believe Tony Blair will be free of (fuck me we're back on topic)

If you can't understand why the Jewish vote is important, or have no knowledge of why the Jewish vote is important, then I suggest you do a bit of googling and keep you accusations about not knowing anything about American politics to yourself...

Now then, where did I say that Israel wasn't part of this? I merely pointed out that Israel has never shown any willingness to do anything that it doesn't want to do. What makes you think Blair will do anything other than suck up to Israel? You have offered a view of Blair that is nearly akin to that of a magician. If you think I'm 'personalising' this argument but saying that, I'm sorry you feel that way.

No one would suggest (apart from the Israelis themselves and their US paymasters) that Israel's behaviour doesn't need to change. But I have heard nothing from you that suggests that Blair can achieve some sort of personality change in the Israeli body politic.

The people probably hold him in as much stead as the British people do! But he is fucking good at what he does, whether you agree with him or not. And yes, he was wrong not to criticise Israel's bombing of Lebanon, but then, even the Lebanese are caught between whether to blame Israel or Hizballah, so perhaps Tony Blair's views on the matter are slightly less of a worry for them?

Let's go back to this. Here you say that Blair is "fucking good at what he does". I asked you what that was and you replied "making friends". He didn't make many friends in Lebanon - did he?

Why should Blair's "views on the matter" be "less of a worry for them"? It's pretty clear that his lack of anything to say on the bombings is a bit of a worry.

Funnily enough, you're correct, two years ago I was not an undergraduate as I graduated in 2003.
