I personally think that if you took Sean Young and her performance out of BR then most males wouldn't give a shit about the movie...:D

I think you are a loon why is unable to look at anything from a perspective other than your own. Not everybody evaluates films with their crotch only.

Excessive use of "lol"-smilies doesn't make whaever you have to say any more persuasive.

Who limits themselves ? I go to the cinema twice a week and have about 800 films on DVD from every country and decade since they started making films. Doesn't mean I have to like every film I see.

Watched the Final Cut version on Sunday down the cinema and it was absolutely awesome on a big screen, so good to look at that you could almost eat it. Storyline unfolds in a logical sequence, reshot sequences definitely add to this, IT gadgetry looks laughably old-fashioned but this adds to the noir-feel of the movie, and the ending on the roof-top is as moving as it ever was. The scene with Tyrell is not for the squeamish either, max gross-out.

I just found it it's coming to Holland around the 18th December. *jumps around a bit*

im thinking of going to see the final cut at the cinema its showing at a few places in london, but its not on at peckham multiplex and im a bit unsure whether i want to pay more than £2.99 i do love the film tho. im a science fiction geek quite frankly... should i go? (has anyone seen it)

I just ordered it off amazon.

5 disc set. Not in a tin I think as it was cheaper. Tins are all well and good but never fits in DVD racks.

Although I do love my Band of Brothers tinny. Best bang for buck purchase I made. Was dirt cheap for ten discs. Wait I lie. The 'Roots' 10 disc was cheaper! Worked out £1 a disc.

Yes saw it on the big screen this week too. DVD  spend the £££ on finding it at a cinema near you and concentrate. This is big screen stuff. What I found fascinating this time around was all the cinematic references, film noir , vertigo, star wars, china town etc but in such skilled hands.

It's appalling to think it had a voiceover, luckily i can't remember. The only accusation, perhaps coz of it's age, is it's racism. Although I'm not quite sure one way or the other.

I agree with that review. It is just an action movie with a bit of scifi questioning thrown in but then it's also ground breaking cinema. It's ancestors are perhaps where any protest & mocking should be directed.

I've bought the 5 disc set because I want the voiceover. I've been waiting years for the theatrical release to be available on DVD.

I don't like it because I need to be told whats going on but because I love the dull monotone voice Ford uses. I feel it matches the spirit of the film even though thats not what either Ford o the director intended and the fact that they both hate it..

There's a hilariously vicious review of the film here:

http://www.shinyshelf.com/article/3/4/1514

It's not a review, just a rather childish rant full of glib generalisations and hysterical overstatement. He doesn't actually write that much about the film itself, he just seems to have a bee in his bonnet about people who like Blade Runner and he comes across as rather presumptious and ignorant.

Unless you're easily amused I'm not sure what's hilarious about it. It's badly written internet sludge and not much thought or analysis went into it. Pauline Kael panned Blade Runner when it came out. I disagree with her on the film, but unlike with this drivel I still think what she wrote is an insightful, intelligent article which I resepct.

I know I will get slated for this, but I much prefer both Minority Report and Fifth Element.

*disbelief*

I watched the Directors Cut again last night and it's still a fucking great film!

saw this last night at brixton ritzy.. still a genius film, but i had forgotten that its a bit looong in the beginning, takes a while for the action to speed up. i just love the mood of it. wicked.

I like the fact that it takes its time to immerse you in its world. Most of todays sci-fi/action films are to frantic for my taste, but peoples attention spans have gotten a lot shorter over time.

I've just finished watching the mammoth documentary on the Final Cut DVD, one of the best and most comprehensive of it's kind ever made and particularely fascinating due to the films troubled production history.

Postie just knocked my door and handed me my 5 disc set.

Now I can't decide which version to watch first.

US theatrical or International Theatrical.

I'll get to the final cut later.

Well there was less naration in that theatrical version than i remembered. Still it was nice to hear it again. Love the comment about Bryant saying Skinjob.

Final cut next but not tonight. Maybe on Monday night.
