Blackwater licence cancelled by Iraqi Govt

I think when "a threat" includes "driving too close to a convoy" on a public road, its not ok.

If you think any car is a threat best not to drive imho.Considering a lot of iraqes believe rules dont apply to them .For example we had a huge front gate big sign in english and arabic "Stop or we shoot " and it was ignored .
How the mercenaries think putting a sign on the back of their pick up gives them the right to shoot anyone who gets too close is beyond them .

I hope every Iraqi starts shooting first wherever they spot the outlaw murderers.

How about thinking about it that some might not be litterate. For a start.
Next: If you invade and occupy a country, you should first of all expect those who's country it is to reason that you have no right to be there. Let alone set up hostile camp at random on their land and then set up rules they should live by.

salaam.

Did they shoot first as they saw a threat ? Or did they shoot just because they could ?Nothing wrong with shooting first if you see a threat .
Does that mean you think there's nothing wrong with Iraqis opening fire on Blackwater simply because Blackwater are now seen as a threat ?

You can scrap the word "now".
They are randomly shooting and killing since the first of their mercenary army arrived.

salaam.

The US State Department is considering banning the use of private security guards in Iraq, though one scheme would involve just hiring the guards as US government employees. The privatization of war fighting, a major step back to the 18th century favored by the Bush administration as a way of throwing money to its friends, has the disadvantage of roiling diplomatic relations.

The mobsters will assassinate Bush rather than let go of this particular cash cow, imo.

Hey, an assassinated President might help the Republican election effort ! It would be patriotic to off the Mad Methodist !

"Cash cow" is a very useful way of describing the US's relationship with [the smashed up state of] Iraq. Without Iraq, there would be many US politician without an additional income. We can't have that, can we? :D

It's the gravy train of death. :(

Looks like Blackwater itself will not bid again for the Iraq contract.

A State Department review of private security guards for diplomats in Iraq is unlikely to recommend firing Blackwater USA over the deaths of 17 Iraqis last month, but the company probably is on the way out of that job, U.S. officials said Wednesday.

It is likely that Blackwater does not compete to keep the job, one official said. Blackwater probably will not be fired outright or even "eased out," the official added, but there is a mutual feeling that the Sept. 16 shooting deaths mean the company cannot continue in its current role.

Still, not surprisingly,

Any outside company that might replace Blackwater would have to provide trained U.S. citizens, with security clearances. That may mean that if Blackwater leaves, competitors hired some of its workers.

So Blackwater goes on the subs bench for a few months, but they'll be back.
The loss of profits may encourage other firms to be a bit more careful though.
Maybe.

Like I said in post 17, the only thing that - maybe - is going to change is the name they come with.

salaam.

Blackwater Iraq contract renewed

Security firm Blackwater has had its contract to protect US diplomats in Iraq extended, as an FBI probe into the killing of 17 Iraqis continues.

Officials are investigating the incident, in which Iraqis were shot by Blackwater staff guarding US staff in Baghdad last September.

Blackwater says its guards acted in self-defence. An Iraqi inquiry concluded the shooting was unprovoked.

The security company's contract was due to expire in May.

State department head of security Gregory Starr said on Friday the contract had been extended for another year.
