Blackberry handsets and Urban

that's great! can you do that in the pub too?!
If you can find a boozer with free wi-fi, sure!

The Prince of Wales and the Dogstar in Brixton both have free wi-fi so it's handy if I have to check my boards or look at something on the boards when I'm out on the razz.

Whatever mobile I get in the future, it's deffo going to have wi-fi built in - it must have saved me a bomb in NYC!

that sounds great; no need to choose between pint and net now, you can have both!
i suppose that does mean you have to be careful with modding when out on the lash tho - i wouldn't want to wake up with a hangover and remember that i burned the boards down the previous evening! :D

I wouldn't dare risk dabbling in the admin forum if I was pissed up and on the tiles.

The temptation to hit the ban button repeatedly might just get the better of me!

There's a new version of your current phone out in the new year with wifi built in and a 2megapixel camera! And yeah, my mantra for a smartphone is no wifi=no deal. Don't see the point of a smartphone without wifi built in in this day and age (ffs even handheld consoles have built in wifi these days!).

They have wi-fi, but iirc it's quite expensive.

They used to have it free in the first class lounge area too at Euston. I'm sure I read that they and other train networks are getting it for their first class coaches somewhere....

Don't they do that free wi-fi thing on virgin trains as well?
They've got it on GNR trains and they've run a cable all along the London -Brighton route, but you have to fork out $$$ if you're in lowly Pleb Class (although if you hung around in the vestibule I can't see why you couldn't get a piece of freebie action).

Nice to have you back, btw.

Does my 7700 whotsit have wi-fi? I'm keen on technology - just don't really understand it :o

Apparently my laptop does. But how do I make it work?

According to this it doesn't. How do you make your laptop wifi work? Depends on the model and maker but most have a button situated near the power button that turns it on and off.

LOL! And I get called a nerd!? :D Remember though that it changes that for your login so when you're on your pc it will still have the look...
only if you set that style as your default skin in user cp -> options.

hmmm i sometimes use my virgin pay as you go to browse the net and it doesnt seem to cost me anything to look at urban if it's got the mobile skin on - you only pay for the pictures (a ha'penny per pic)

I am a bit sorry I asked now! I don't know what contract work will agree to with the Blackberry. At the moment they have a corporate deal with Orange but I assume Orange would be able to offer a suitable tariff?

I wouldn't want to use a laptop in a pub tbh , a) you never want to become a crime target and b) nobody wants to look like a cunt.

If not Blackberry what other model for emails on the run and posting on urban and other boards?

Ahem. I would recommend the O2 Mini S:

Who makes blackberry?

I'd be far more likely to get one if they were made by some large, reputable company like Sony or something, but as it is, I'm not sure.

It's Canadian and, last time I looked, they were threatening to stop support to the US over a legal issue. US government when on record as saying that the country can not operate without this technology.

I did start a thread on the above, btw.

(this was a post in response to the posters question and will now read the thread.)

Yep, it's called the MDA Vario on T-mobile and yep after reading this thread and their web site your right their webnwalk (what a shit name!) tarriffs are very good.

I'm getting a blackberry soon, I'm upgrading my mobile to get one. I was going to get a wifi enabled smartphone but decided aganist it.

I've already got a wifi enabled laptop and a 3G data card, BUT wifi isn't always free or available when I need it, and because many of my emails come with lots of large attachments, using the data card to download them ennds up costing me a fortune, especially when I'm abroad, it costs me £7.50 a meg.

I think I'll use the data card when I need to email design work off urgently, when I've no other way of sending it and the blackberry for everything else.

I just went on a two week business trip where I was the only person without one and having seen how they work, (you get your emails in realtime, from up to ten web based email accounts, that humoungous 300k attachment is automatically shrinked to 4k, thus costing you less money), I think I'm sold. :)

They work everywhere, we went all over the place and they really do work almost everywhere. I can see the advantage over other gadgets.

Your pissweak trolling has been rumbled.

Did you enjoy having your tolling gang chums laughing at people trying to help you out in this thread?

Grow up. You're pathetic.

From the tolling gang website:
kea

ernestolynch

kea

kea

And me while you're there.I've seen some sad fuck things in my time, but asking for people's help then sniggering when people offer help in good faith is lame to a degree that I find frankly difficult to comprehend.

That has fucked me right off. Exploit the good will of others, brilliant.

Sleep well you cunts. I spend a good proportion of my time helping out people with techinical questions, and fuckers like you make it seem pointless. Har de fucking har wankers.

It's an example of the kind of pathetic antics that some TG posters get up to.

Chuck, kea and a few of the cray-zee TG crew brewed up this fake thread for the amusement of fellow clique members in their little members-only forum.

In this case, the entire thread was created for the benefit of taking the piss out of me as I, err, tried to be helpful and answer the questions asked by the posters, who were egging each other in their secret forum.

Not quite sure where the humour is in the situation myself, but I guess it's something to do with the fact that I use Wi-Fi. It's desperately sad.
