Only in a fetish club: shiny black latex. Otherwise pure black is too severe a look for me. I'm simply too old to get away with it.

I've got a few black leather and outdoors jackets, and black tactical combats - but worn together I'd probably look like an ageing special forces wannabe. An image I'm keen to avoid.

I wear black virtually all the time - occasionally broken up with a dark grey jacket or jeans. Apart from the odd white shirt, I own no other colours.

very rarely wear black except for trousers: but then I rarely wear trousers anyway. I like the brightest colours in the paintbox for my clothes. I do have some black clothes though, but unless it was a funeral I'd always wear them with a bright accent colour.

Why do people care who wears how much black and how often? You don't seem to have the same conversation about pastel shades, brights, neutrals, large prints, tiny prints, florals, geometrics, or white.

FWIW I have a lot of black clothing, but it's extremely nuanced and it's very far from being the only colour ever worn.

Black or grey ...

Though for some reason in the summer I wear khaki shorts when I could buy them in black just like my winter combats.... or dye them grey.

My two new pairs for this year are seriously army green so will need to be soaked alongside my black tee shirts, combats and pants in the bath before I wear them.

I prefer grey socks - especially when wearing shorts.

I do have problems with black if I spill custard or other food items on it ...

My other half did the washing today. He washed my lemon coloured top, and my cream dress with a navy towel and some dark blue jeans  Just when I was starting to experiment with colours rather than stick to my usual black preference.

I immediately swore that I would go back to an entirely black wardrobe. It's just easier!

Just train him in the use of colour catchers (or similar), at least he tried. The extra cost of a box of them is more than cancelled out by being able to wash everything at the same time as long as it's okay for that wash cycle (eg no wool in the 60 degree wash, and no silk with a bio detergent).

There were colour catchers on top of the washing machine. Trust me, when I confront him he just says "it doesn't matter!" Which it doesn't. To him.

(((Poot)))

What you do about this is your choice, but FWIW if VP ever did that to me I'd be making it abundantly clear that
1) it mattered to me because they're my clothes, in the same way that my ruining something of his would matter to him
2) seeing as he damaged them he can pay for replacements (which I'd be finding and choosing, not him), out of his own money (ie not the joint household stuff)
3) what matters to me usually ends up mattering to him, whether he likes it or not (this cuts both ways).
Yes, I really am that demanding.
