Black Flag

I prefer Loose Nut to Slip it In.

Yeah, me too. I think. Those are my least favourite two.

It's less intense and focussed than the earlier stuff, ruta. And heavier and as trev said (twice in one day, trev! ) slower.

For me, it lacks the energy and intensity that made them so great.

'Ere rutabowa on the subject of Yank punk, do yourself a favour and buy this single from 1977:

The Electric Chairs

A 7 minute 44 seconds version of the Stone's 'Last Time' which is magical turned up loud.

One of my fave tunes ever.

Get The Complete 1982 Demo's, Nervous Breakdown Session and Live North Park Lions Club. In My Head will screw you up but its a personal fave , not representative of the earlier output.

yeh, you could not have recommended a better record for me! i heard it about 10 times last night. i like the a side too. i'm happy because most of the electric chairs stuff i could find on youtube was a bit shit.

100% agreed. the Chairs were amazing. Some of thee best riffs ever and some great offensive lyrics. always think they are quite criminally underrated in favour of the many other new york bands from then whose asses the Chairs kick. spose it's just cos they always kept some of their pre-punk, more 'vaudeville' style songs in their set and cos of their singer's TV 'schtick'.

Jayne/Wayne county's autobiography is a fascinating read too.
great clip in that don letts 'punk rock movie' of them doing 'stuck on you', another brilliant song off that same EP.

think he/she played at the Underworld last year and was, by all reports, amazing, but alas i couldn't make it.

Only ever saw Jayne play once, at the Oval somewhere around 1986, and she rocked the small venue to the ground.

That record is one of my prize possesions, being one the first singles I ever bought when I was a nipper.

Bought at the HMV Shop in Stratford. :D

always think it's funny the way you can remember the exact details of your purchases of punk singles 30 years ago but you'd be hard pressed to remember what the last cd you even purchased WAS - let alone from where you bought it.

suppose buying a single was an 'event' then and something you saved up for and looked forward to sometimes for weeks.

Yeah, it is funny and yeah it was over 31 years ago! I was in love with Rachel Sweet at that time, just by seeing her on the back cover of an album.

T'was a sunny day too. :D

i'm trying to think what i bought this year... well i got Destroy All Monsters – Bored, ATV - The Image Had Cracked, Fatal Microbes – Violence Grows, a reissue of Totally Wired, i think they're all from about those years, i'm sure there's some more

Heh! I bought the Bored mini album recently too, as I've only got November 22nd 1963/Meet the Creeper on a scratchy old single. :D

Top stuff - that was gonna be another recommendation to ya.

Still got me Violence Grows single from back in the day too. :)
