She's been supporting Bjork since around '96 so she must be doing something right! ;)

Just got back from the Apollo.

What can I say? The stage performance was very impressive - its really good when any artist doesn't need to rely on overly spectacular video effects of lighting rigs to look good. Her backing brass section looked and sounded great both instrumentally and vocally.

Hyperballad was excellent and the highlight for me. Army Of Me should have been just as good except everyone got out of sync with the pre programmed tracks and Bjork started singing the chorus too early and then the live drums clashed with the wrong bit of the chorus. It sounded dreadful for a while but they just played the chorus over and over til it ended - nobody seemingly wanted to lose face by stopping :D

Overall, it was good. But I'm pretty loathed to pay £40 for a gig these days. I won't be doing that again in a while. While she was excellent - I wouldn't say it was much better than in 1995. Her down tempo tracks don't do a lot for me in a venue with a capacity any bigger than 1,000. The best moments are when everything kicks off with large beats, lasers, dancing Icelandic brass section et al.

The sound could have been a bit better too. It was very mid to top-end heavy , but it could have been where we were sat. Overall, I'd give it 7/10 - some great moments but not tremendously any better than back in 1995. Save to say the instrumentation was a lot better this time and the band's instrumental gizmos are very cool.

She was good yeah - as enchanting as ever. but nowhere near the near religious experience I had seeing her at Glasto :)

Just came home from seeing her at Hammersmith.

The first 20 minutes was shivery and gorgeous, but then she lost me. Too much noise and fanfare, not enough space or depth.

It was really interesting to have seen Portishead a few days earlier and make the comparison.

Beth sings inwardly, Bjork sings out to us. Both beautiful, both moving and gorgeous, but for me Beth is more True.

And the sound was mixed too heavy on the bass. It became wearisome.

I'm going to see her tomorrow night and cannot wait. Going to make some nice big bombs of MDMA before hand

Who's supporting her? Trying to work out whether we should stay at home and get stoned before hand or go to see the support.

Leila is the support.

I thought she was quite good in places and a bit ropey in others. Worth checking out but not the end of the world if you miss.
