Bizzare Buzzcocks Behaviour (part two)

i just watched buzzcocks on you tube..he's probably better than lamar:eek:

Meeeeeh, he's alright, but definitely not on par with Lamar*, I know some people like the cheeky schoolboy act but it just makes him seem a little irrelevant as far as I'm concerned, too weak to take control. Then again I'm still a big fan of the 'ranty' style despite everyone else saying that it's had it's day. Plus since Amstell arrived Bill Bailey seems to have become a bit more reserved, probably thanks, in part, to the crazies who seem to be put on his team every week.

And Phil Jupitus looks shit without a beard.

Lamarr had gone stale. Years of the same jokes. Amstell I like. He can push his guests a bit further because of his cheeky grin and flashing eyes.

I know what you're saying, but just because they're easy targets and *everyone* hates them, I do think to take the piss effectively in a way that's funny and not just cringingly embarassing is a talent held by the few.

imo when I see Jonathon Ross trying to the same thing when he interviews he falls into the cringing category for example...

I happen to think Ross is quite good at piss-taking - but he comes unstuck when he has to be nice to people and smarms all over them.

I think Amstell's a talented bloke but probably deserves better than lazy bookers who serve up the likes of Feltz, Turner and Penny GMTV as sacrificial lambs for him to have a pop at. British TV comedy is so lazy at the moment - you see it on panel shows, sketch shows and sitcoms, a kind of 'That'll do' attitude that drives me mental. Buzzcocks isn't the worst offender by a long shot.

Amstellls good. He's not yet proved as funny as lamarr was om occaison but it's early days.

"did he hypnotise you over your fear of having sex with paul Mckenna?":D

Of course Turner wouldn't be "vehemently against it", she'd do anything to get her face back on terrestrial telly, including taking a load of insults from Amstell. Same goes for Feltz.
But Feltz has a high profile and is often on terrestrial TV .

I'd rather have Feltz, Turner et al than some obscure band member I've never heard of.

The only reason Feltz has a 'high profile' is because she'll go on anything, however ridiculous her participation.

Why? Tony Mortimer and the bloke from Orson have been two of the best guests so far this series. Turner and Feltz were totally out of their depth and clearly know fuck all about music.

she's great :D

Bill was very quiet though - alarmingly so - I don't want Bill to be quiet because then we might get more Jupitus. I don't understand his career trajectory - what is he? Surely he was never a comic? He can't have ever done stand up.

he was Porky The Poet, an agit-prop political poet in the 80s, perennial Billy Bragg support act. Worked up from there, think he's done record company stuff too

I've seen him do stand up. Absolutely appalling, and got very aggro with a heckler, threatening violence - whole thing was really uncomfortable. Didn't think much of him before that but have always hated him since.

Ms Winehouse on the other hand is a feckin star.

"cat aids" :D :D

I would. Without the ridiculouse hairpiece obviously

I would too. If I was blind and deaf. With no sense of touch.

Each to their own though, eh.

I think Amstell handled Winehouse quite well, although he had to dig deep into his reserves of cheeky-chappiness to keep her from losing it. She probably would have ended up knocking chunks out of Lamarr, which would have made for some interesting TV.

The whole "awkward vibe" of parts of that show reminded me of another friend of TV producers everywhere - John Lydon.

Legendary appearance on "Juke Box Jury" - this must have really freaked out Aunty Beeb when this went out in the '70s

Lydon gives some guy in a Stetson a really hard time

Actually, her and Lamarr are pretty much mates.

Well, according to reports at the time, Lydon actually carried out his "impromptu" strop twice, cos the cameramen didn't catch it properly the first time.

Pantomime Dame he was, even then.

nah, he's an unfunny arse. Never listened to his morning show, couldn't face it

That's a shame cos I think you'd like it, he's into rocksteady and ska stuff, has some decent guests on and the music is pretty good, the best breakfast show stuff imo.

It used to be a lot better, the music that is, but since 6 became more popular 'programming' seems to have taken over a lot more.

Amy Wino is one of the most nauseating women I have ever seen.

I'd have to kick her out of the cab I'm afraid.

And her tattoos are shit.

Dubversion said:
Why nauseating? Cos she's not all cutesy?

No, but she does have the unactractive habit of slating everybody in the music biz (like no talent Lily Allen has started to do) when she isn't exactly Mozart herself.

do you have to be an expert in a particular field before you can have an opinion on it?

her tattoos are ace by the way, pk. she looks like she's an extra from last exit to brooklyn or something, or an 18 rated version of dirty dancing  :D

I wasn't aware I was asking you. As for slagging people off, that's pretty funny.

after seeing her on buzzcocks - she's (finally ;) ) got my vote!

i was a bit twatted (much like her then :D ) when i saw it but thought she did great.
