Bitten to fuck!!

wash with soap immediately - this really helps...

get a mozzie bite pen with ammonia in it - this stop the itching in minutes.

here's a remedy I've not come across before (using scotch tape):

Out in .za we used a think like a mouse with a little metal contact for its nose. It ran on a PP3 battery, and I believe the principle was that it zapped the bite area with enough of a voltage to cause the nerve-endings to be overstimulated and stop itching. It hurt a bit to do, but it did make the itching go away very fast.

ETA: ah, this is it. It works by heating the bite up to 51C, apparently.

my left arm currently looks like a pink twiglet with all the bites. an i'm a semi-ginge too. i find the only way is to scratch the absolute fuck out of them until they turn into big scabs. then close the window until spring.

Went to bed at about 11.30 and I have been woken up by some bastard insects biting me all over. I am in so much pain I have had to take something for it.

As the clouds and hot vapour descends upon the Northern shires, the fidgity buzz of Mosquitos wings can be heard riding in on the gathering winds.

If I get bit just once when the rains comes there will be fuckin Hell to pay for these rammy little proboscoid motherfuckers

! Have you tried it? Erm, is scotch tape like sellotape?

Never heard of a mozzie bite pen. I'm a bit shit at keeping remedies n stuff in. Lucky if I've got a plaster and a bit of tea tree cream

Erm, I think it might be - I always think it's that 'invisible' tape but I think Scotch tape is the big seller in the US. No I've not tried it.. yet.

Most chemists should sell a bite pen - you can get a more sort of camomile based cream that covers you in white powder as well. Either are a godsend when you wake up at 3am with 5 bites on your toes and ankles, owwww.

That looks interesting. I once bought a static pen that was supposed to do something similar (like an oven lighter) but it was shit. :)

Available from camping shops and it's great.

to soothe skin...plantain juice...take the leaves and squash up on the tips of you fingers..allow the juice which is readily produced to drip onto you affected areas...don't rub...apply more if necessary.

Aloe vera innards of a fresh plant applied delicately...take a leaf and fillet it and apply uses leave gently.

Too keep insects from biting...infusion of torn tansy leaves steeped in a two litre bottle over night...in cool_dark during day...pour over naked self_head and allow to drip_dry before going to bed or out and about*.:)

*bog mytrle is good too but harder to get hold of and a bit_much pongier.

And eat a clove of garlic(raw) a day plus couple of table spoons of cider vinegar helps too.

 They had a right old feast last night.
I am covered in huge bites that are getting bigger by the day. It's the itching that's driving me nuts. The last time I went though this was in Gran Canaria about 14 years ago. Fuck knows why the little bastards are attacking me.

The itching's awful isn't it? I end up with great big raw patches where the bites have been cos I scratch them in my sleep. Wouldn't mind but I have incredibly short fingernails - but still so much damage caused

Yess....hmmmm *strokes chin* bit of a problem with this in that WHERE THE FUCK AM I GONNA GET A PLANTAIN FROM IN ST FUCKING HELENS!

God! You haven't thought this through have you?

The best, healtiest and most effective cure for mozzie bites, and I've been bitten a lot in the last year I can tell you, is just to reisit the temptation to scratch them, massage round the area, anything like that. In about 10 minutes they will go down and stop itching. If you do touch it, bingo, bite will last days.

If you cant help yourself, a strong anti-histamine bite cream or super strong anti-inflammatory like diclofenac sodium. Mistifyingly, they don't sell anti-histamine cream in OZ. Mozzies there so evil they follow you home.

Have come back from Cambridge Folk Festival with 5 huge bites on my legs, one has about 9 blisters in it and the red mark went almost round my leg (and I have big legs!) Necking some hayfever pills helped with the swelling I think, but putting ice (wrapped in cloth) on was wonderful in cooling the bites down when they were at their worse - handy hint from the St John's ambulance :D

Impossible to do though, for me anyway, cos I don't realise I have been bitten until I automatically scratch an itch - by that time it's too late
