Bioshock!

Out on the 24th - as long as there's no more delays... Can't wait! Finally, a decent game for my PC. I've been waiting soo long!

Closely followed by Crysis, and not long to go till Medal of Honor Airbourne and Hellgate London.

Last game I did that for was Supreme Commander. That was a cracking game. I won't be doing it for this, since I've got a little bit too much stuff to do in RL.

For what, Xbox or PC? If it's PC you've been ripped off, and if it's Xbox you need it chipped. Sorry if you already knew that shit!

About an hour into this so far on the 360. It's great - very cinematic and atmospheric.

Just burning Blue Dragon - tis a good week for gaming.

Argh! I want I want I want! <rocks back and forth and sucks thumb>

Have placed an advance order, so that if it does turn up in advance elsewhere, I no need feel so guilty. It's good work that needs to be rewarded!

Been playing it on my flashed 360 for a few days now. :p

I can say with confidence that it competes with the likes of Half Life 2, Goldeneye and Halo as the best FPS ever. Easily the best game on the XBOX 360.

Bet Microsoft are kicking themselves they didnt pay out to ensure a 360 exclusive.

Am stuck already - only just got the fire plasma thingummy.

And I'm 99% sure it's only avaliable on the 360 and the pc, which I don't see as conflicting markets.

A heck of a lot of PC gamers would have been interested in getting the 360 were it an exclusive. It would also have prevented a later port to PS3.

I will eat my hat, if this game ends up on the PS3. Microsoft have paid handsomely to Irrational for the game to be made on PC and 360 only (don't forget that the PC is Microsoft's market too).

It's reputed that Microsoft paid Rockstar $50 million for the exclusive DL content coming with GTA4 (lets not forget it's the delay to the PS3 version that has pushed it back) so they can afford to throw money at developers and publishers to make games exclusive without actually saying it is, ergo Bioshock.

Also consider that when games are dual platform, it tends to be the 360 that is the native build of the game (due to its ease to programme) and the PS3 is the port, which is usualy inferior; see The Darkness for evidence of this.

Mainly due to how good the development tools for the xbox 360 are.

And the familiarity of the PC based architecture to any dev that has worked on PC's, while the Cell is needlessly convoluted; which I find ironic as it is that reason that the Saturn fell behind to the Playstation one, which was very user friendly compared to the dual chip nature of the Saturn which boggled dev's when they could make games much, much easier on the original Playstation despite it not being as powerful as the Sega console.

I'm feeling a touch of deja vu here :D

the 360 isn't that much like a PC, it has a 3-core CPU, with a specialised SIMD unit. The CPU and GPU have a common front side bus design and have euqal access to system memory. It's really quite a hybrid design.

But, by all reports, the developer's toolset hides most of this complexity, and it's just like writing DirectX games for PC's.

In fact, the only negative thing I seem to be hearing - and it is the same thing from every review - are variations of the following:

If there's anything disappointing about BioShock, it's the ending. We found the resolution to be somewhat abrupt for a game in which so many things are colliding and bubbling beneath the surface. Nevertheless, it's no reason to be dissuaded.

Which seems a bit of a shame, but there you go.

heheh - hang in there Xbox!

I think you actually get 4 bocks of red with the pulled out VGA and only 3 when it is super-dead.
