Billy Bragg isn't a genuine lefty. He did some good stuff in the years before Blair was crowned king but since then Bragg has not come true in my opinion. His CD where he took a lot of Wood Guthrie's unsung songs and created tunes for them is a real disappointment - he should have left them unrecorded. The other offence for which he should surely stand trial is his re-writing of the words of The Internationale so that it becomes anodyne and meaningless.

Verdict: a has-been.
