Randy's worth around £850m - which makes him a Dollar billionaire.

Apart from the great job he's doing at the Villa, earlier this year he donated £5m to the National Portrait Gallery. You can just imagine the likes of George Gillett or Mike Ashley doing something like that, can't you? Admittedly, Abramovich is also a patron of the arts, but when he gets his wad out it's to buy his woman a Francis Bacon or three to hang in her Moscow art gallery!

Villa might not win the Champions League under Randy Lerner, but at least we won't feel like we're supporting a club that's been bought simply to make profit out of or to inflate the owner's ego and raise his international profile.

Why do you think he's bought it though? (Genuine question btw, curious how you see it.)

As long as we still have a core of harworking(ha) loyal west ham players i won't complain if the odd world class player joins our ranks.

Would be a good thing in fact.

Perfer to have soul then money but both weould be amazing.

Like I said on the other thread, I'm quite happy that we've got some rich inverstors otherwise we would'nt have Keano or Torres or the the like. But because no one ever seems to getting along in the board room, I soetimes wich they'd sell up and fuck off...

I would be happier if they used more of their wealth to buy the club and players rather than borrowing money in the club's name to do so, saddling LFC with more and more debt. Wait until January when RBS refuse to grant the 6 months extension on their loan. Hopefully they will brick it and sell.

He is a sah-kurr fan from his days as a student at Oxford or Cambridge (can't remember which). He seems to have a genuine love of sport .... I don't think it's an ego trip with him because I've only ever seen him give one TV interview whereas Doug Ellis was never off the fucking box.
