Bill Laswell

which one is the later disco stuff?

One Down. Actually it isn't that much later. It was a funny band. One year they were working with Henry Threadgill, George Lewis and Fred Frith and then the next it's with Witney Houston and Nona Hendryx. Here's the very enjoyable and long single from that time:

I have the Nona Hendryx album, which is produced by Laswell. It's mostly quite dated, but there's a couple of decent tracks. Kind of like a low-rent Grace Jones.

genuinely enjoying this Miles Davis remix album he did but as said up thread its classic material already

track sounds alright if it had miles soloing over the top of it, but there seems to be no trumpet at all on it ~ shame ~

agree 100%
did you know about this?
"In 1986, Laswell joined guitarist Sonny Sharrock, drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson, and saxophonist Peter Brötzmann in the group Last Exit"
I know you like a bit of Peter Brötzmann Fozzie, and the rest of the line up is a serious pedigree too... another more interesting than it sounds in the making? ive given it a try and it sounds like fun for them to play but not much fun to listen to, to me at least.

The biog on all music does a good job o covering all the bases http://www.allmusic.com/artist/bill-laswell-mn0000075979/biography

Love Last Exit stuff personally, suitably extreme punky free jazz. Hell of a racket!

I guess it comes down to if you like Sharrock's messy scronky guitar playing. I do. :)
