Toecutter is the hero though! Max just finishes the film as a bit of a prick imho, Toecutter and the boys aren't just crazy they're biker crazies. The bikes represent the the flipside of the hippy / freedom association engendered by Easy Rider - the disorder, violence and willingness to do whatever they want. They represent a society about to fall apart and the cynicism the 70s had for the broken dreams of the 60s.

I agree, Mad Max has enough biker related screen time to rate as a biker film.

Nearly all the bikes are either Z900 or Z1 Kawasakis of the era of bikes that I loved as I was growing up.

It's a great film.

First saw this when I was a nipper staying over at a friend's place in Navan. Excellent flim, beautifully shot on location in Arizona
