My local aldi doesnt have any of that :( I really would like some merino stuff and perhaps a hrm

edit: actually i was looking at the Aldi email that i received today. Its for the 12th.

Cant believe the merino top is only 30% merino - whats the point in that?

And no padded shorts ffs!

lidl in steatham and streahtam common was clean out of trackpumps, I was gutted :(

160 psi? lulz. I haven't seen it in person but I have a lot of experience of cheap track pumps of many different makes and I can say that most of them are shit and the heads die after any kind of heavy use. The ones we use in the shop now are a Bontrager metal bodied universal head one that retails about 30 quid. If a pump can stand up to more than a month's use in the shop I rate it. I guess it depends how often you might be going to use it and whther you need to get tires up to more than about 70psi.

Got the rack & rear reflector in Aldi on Friday - (just need to fit them now and the bike'll be street legal again).

The winter cycling gloves felt v reasonable for the money, although the fingers were a bit tight (I usually take a small but ended up getting the large). Probably okay for non-cyclists too.

Thanks to GG for heads up on Winter Golf Mittens at Aldi

New to me: I saw some heated mittens the other day - they use a battery in each glove, just enough to ward of the worst. Another cheapo store though, not either of these two.

They probably need modding - well they do for the likes of me who prefer somewhat agricultural grip-shifters with worn-out grips.

The inners slide around too easily relative to the outer.

I plant to finally get around to whiping on some new grips and will probably also stitch and seal the palms a bit ...
They're generously sized too - I wonder if it's intended that you actually wear normal golfing gloves underneath and whip these off to actually take a shot ...

Christ's sake. Aldi had 100% merino base layers on sale, both long and short sleeved, for £15 quid. FIFTEEN QUID FFS! But it was advertised under 'Skiing special offers' so I didn't even look.

I would have had five if I'd seen it beforehand...

I went and bought two pairs of the ski gauntlets, but I don't think they're actually much cop for cycling ...

I got a Wrench Force one at a bike race for £15, I get 120psi in my road tyres pretty easily and it seems well made. Metal body and piston, plastic everything else, but sturdy enough. I was told that valves can be a problem on cheaper pumps, is that true (i.e. they break, lie and deceive?)

Timely bump for Lidl bike week this week. Usual stuff, track pumps for £5, clothing, lights, computers £4, lids, gloves £3...

I was also about to bump this; 2 x inner tubes for £3.95 - I thank yew.

Also, they've gorn mad this time for PANNIER BAGS!!1! Daft prices, no panniers though.

Otherwise, it's the usual assortment of necessities and weirdness.

Weirdness IMHO is right - purple 3/4 length cycling tights for women - and repulsive purple cycling top (with floral motif) to match.

BTW if anyone wants a 20L rucksack with a hi-viz yellow back panel, they've still got some of those too.

One would have to cut out eye holes and wear it over your head if one were wearing the purple combo :(
