Big police incident: Coldharbour Lane (19/3/08)

Really can't understand how you guys can live in an area where things like this happen on a regular basis, surely it gets too much?!?!?!

By the way, I lived in Brixton for 6mths......hated every second.

Thanks for your insight.

Islington according to his location. No shootings there ever honest.

of course not

there wasn't a murder on Upper Street in mid afternoon just recently and i didn't see a group of youths shouting about gang colours as they ran down Upper Street just yesterday after work (as mentioned on another thread)

to think Islington is a crime free paradise is nuts. It's probably the London Borough with the biggest rich/poor gap. You are either rich or poor if you live in Islington, there is fuck all in between.

Purely speculation, but I imagine the hostile crowd didn't want this particular life saved.

No, the hostility was directed at the ambulance guys, not the victim. It did have strong racial undertones. (The crowd was entirely black.)

One of the ambulance men had short hair, and was getting comments like 'Hey skinhead, bet you're glad to see black blood, black liver.'

That's fucking depressing.

And not a London/Race thing. Attacks on Paramedic and Firemen are common in Dublin and Belfast, usually in estates, Firemen can get attacked for trying to put out car's joyriders set on fire.

Did any of them have short hair?

I am worried now because I have a shave head. Should I consider dreads or a centre parting?

:D

I posted a thread specific for people with straight or crooked parts (perhaps you saw it ?). There was some excellent advice contained in the thread several of which may help you make the correct desicion.
Either way, I hope it goes well for you (a straight part isn't something anyone should rush into. ... dreads on the other hand.... :hmm:

Oh yeah ..... poor kid ...bad people yelling etc.

No bother :)
I might try growing my hair longer than 1mm

Fucking inbreds should be banned from free healthcare.

Have I got this right? An ambulance man is trying to save the life of this (black) victim, and the crowd is hurling the above type of insults at him? For crying out loud, WHY?

May I just go on record and say that I have lived in Brixton for 18 years and would rather live here than Belgravia. Or even Islington. Thanks.

I've lived in London for 30 years and Brixton was the best place out of all of them.

Islington - full of the 3 wheeler buggie brigade. Frightening.

I lived in Brixton for pretty much most of my life (before having to move last year), and saw it go through many "ups" and "downs". However, I've never seen it go through the type of protracted slump it's been slding down over the last eight or so years. Unless things start to improve there again, big time (i:e; shit like this stops happening), I really wouldn't want to live there again.

Sad - because I've got many good memories of growing up there.

I just moved to Brixton last year and I really like it, wish I'd moved here years ago instead of renting tiny places complete with fold-down beds in supposedly better areas. Now I just need to pursuade more mates to visit the area.
