Big Green Gathering - who's coming?

William of Walworth said:
Apparantly the Bimble Inn (enormous tipi with bar and stage -- this will be at Beautiful Days too) was at the BGG with their excellent beer, also another beer tent.

Yep - the beer/ale were ACE. There were 3 wooden pub-like structures that sold wonderful local cyder and ales.

If you're really interested in activism and alternative energy, then you'd love it. There was tons of interesting stuff and people to chat to.

As bendeus says - you can always avoid the healing areas if that's not your bag.

The music was a bit pants though. It really was. Well, the live stuff anyway (Kangaroo Moon were actually pretty good though, despite the name! ;) ).

There were a couple of tents which had FANTASTIC djs playing disco and old skool, which went down a treat after a couple of days of tin whistles and djembes.... ;) :D

and Dubversion; maybe you should try a shamanic healing. might just chill you out a bit. :)

I'd rather eat my own shit, but thanks for the concern. Hippy wank is hippy wank, whatever you call it.

i ahvent been to a BGG since i was about 4 and i got sick and had to come home by tractor :D

but derv's mum offered to buy us tickets this year (i was working)

y'see that doesn't appeal AT ALL!

i thought BGG had no leccy? cycle powered bars etc. or has it moved intothe 21st century?

Plenty of electricity at the BGG, all provided by the sun and wind (man).

Didn't get to the bar you mention William. Of the other two bars, one was raising funds for the climate change camp and the other was run by local young farmers. Both ran out of beer by Sunday night :(

just come home from BGG :D

we found beer tents very pleasing

also Fernhill Farm organic meat - delcious:D

however - allin all - we is looking forward to Glasto 2007 - remember we reallylive up north - as in the Hebrides.

Gutted not to meet up with Han and co, oh well next year ;)

BGG was fan-bloody-tastic, apart from being miles from anywhere, which was a problem because we were there from sunday until monday, more drgs and better quality than we saw at the glade, lots of hippy bollox but most of it was quite funny, I really like the way it goes on for a few days so everyone gets together ad gets to know each other before have a big party at the weekend. The crazy world of arthur brown was pretty good, he did the weirdest bob dylan cover I've ever seen

:D - believe, after a few days of whistles and tambourines, we were GAGGING for the sound of a drum machine, whatever form it took ;)

It's all solar and wind-powered. :)

Which is one of the brilliant things about it - the Croissant Neuf thing ROCKED.

aka "cured leaves", "fermented fruit and grain" and "willow bark extract".

It's all about marketing. ;)
I think you'll find there's a lot more than cured leaves in your bensons and fermented fruit in your stella mate.

*ahem* we *might* have ended up dancin to d&b at womad at a henna tatoo stall (it was raining though) :o

Yes. Fight-inducing chemicals

I doubt any of the beer tents at BGG were selling Stella though?
Isn't there about 200 chemicals in cigarettes? Some very nasty stuff too.
Cured leaves eh?
I'm not sure about the organicness of the beer at the BGG.
Wouldnt like to comment on that.

I was in the drum and bass tent at the BGG. afaik they've been having one for years.

i havent been to a BGG since d&b was invented :o
yeah it was good but i couldnt get used to not seeing anyone because their lighting was so crap. I was in there a few years ago and i'm sure it was much better lit.

I don't smoke and I don't drink Stella. ;)

You said "It's just going to take a little more time for modern folk to realise that there's more to life than fags, booze and aspirin."

Native americans have used tobacco for hundreds, if not thousands of years. People have been making alcoholic drinks for thousands of years. Aspirin is found in willow bark - which has also been used medicinally for a long time.

"Huron Indian myth has it that in ancient times, when the land was barren and the people were starving, the Great Spirit sent forth a woman to save humanity. As she traveled over the world, everywhere her right hand touched the soil, there grew potatoes. And everywhere her left hand touched the soil, there grew corn. And when the world was rich and fertile, she sat down and rested. When she arose, there grew tobacco..." link

"...the discovery of late Stone Age beer jugs has established the fact that intentionally fermented beverages existed at least as early as the Neolithic period..." link

"...The history of aspirin probably dates back further than any known modern drug. Over 3 500 years ago, the Egyptians were known to have used an infusion of willow leaves for rheumatic diseases and back pain. Around 400 BC, the Greek physician, Hippocrates recommended using a juice extracted from the bark of the white willow tree (Salix alba) to relieve pain and fever, particularly in women during childbirth." link

Dragging B&H and Stella into it betrays your agenda somewhat, but you should be careful that in your desire to rail against multi-nationals and additive-laden junk products you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

probably because i wasn't running around madly plugin everything in like i normally do, was this the ecotrip tent, did megabitch get to play? i normally do but was otherwised engaged this year. Remember this is 12V, sound takes precedence, i think last year we had a stobe which everyone moaned about

I remember last year we ended with WaxAudio's 'Imagine' c/o Dubya which seemed to send everyone off confused :p

My agenda? wtf are you on about?
The vast majority of people consume beer and fags full of chemicals and have been nowhere near anything sacred.
I dont even remember what this argument's about. Thats how much i care about it.

Just got back from BGG 2006 and am exhausted (especially because it took us nearly 2 days to drive back to london and unload our tat cos of being shorthanded lol). I had a great time there this year -despite being practically welded to the sound desk for the duration. Gutted i never got the chance to go and hook up with backatcha bandit and mates at the nuclear alert tent (who played really grim films all the way through apparently ;) ) -maybe next year when we have more than 3 sound techs i might be able to get away for more than a trip to the bogs :D .

Best thing about the festie: not having an obnoxious psy-trance tent next to us playing said cobblers from midnight to 8am every day like we had to endure at sunrise celebration  :)

oh yeah, and i totally mised seize the day :D

...the nuclear alert tent (who played really grim films all the way through apparently
they certainly did - I want cartoons not Threads before bed  :D

and they've still got my fire, so I shall be cold at Shambala :(
