Big fire in Stratford, London

n557541769_435219_267.jpg

i went to check it out (via greenwich). managed to get pretty close but my flaming camera was out of batteries though so only had my (poor quality) camera phone. it was right near hackney wick station. loads of cops. loads of papparatzi.

For about 30 minutes I was like an excited schoolchild after seeing it, zipping around on my scooter trying to get to the end of the rainbow.

Excellent picture :D

Have just showed b/f this and he's well chuffed that it was him that saved London from burning to the ground :o :D

What amazed me about this was the number of people saying 'I'm so worried - I have friends in East London!' 'I'm OK, I'm at work, but I'm worried about my cats in Lewisham,' and a couple of people, who lived in Leytonstone and Walthamstow, deciding to stay at a friend's rather than go home after work.

I was in Whitechapel. I saw a big cloud of smoke and more fire engines than usual (and a bloke who was so desparate to cross the road that he stepped out in front of a fire engine and then turned and gave them the finger).

I could breathe perfectly well. My clothes were not setting alight as I walked down the road. That is because this was a fire miles from where I was. If my house had been next to the fire, then I would have been concerned.

FFS: not every small-scale disaster has to have repercussions on you, personally.

Twister, that is a truely amazing picture. You really must send that to somewhere it will get a wider audience.

Yeah, cos that's a good terrorist aim - delay the building of the olympics site years before there's even anything built...

Terrorists trying to ensure the olympics don't get finished on time would be a bit like a murderer deciding to kill someone with terminal cancer.

thanks Sam, I'm now even more gutted I didn't have my proper camera working, the quality on all the pics i took are rather poor. I love the image too though. :D
