New/unreleased UR. Nothing exciting, but still better than most stuff out there...

Have always been a big Soulphiction fan, but he's becoming a buy-on-sight producer for me lately. I've played these two a fair bit

edit: apparently that last one is 2017  ah well, a fucking banger, anyway!

some v cool tunes there fez
that Sharif Lafrey thing particularly tickled me

....posted this the other day in another thread but some favourite bumpy chunky 4x4garage tunes from this year

(lack of stuff on youtube or soundcloud!)
    So We Sing
So We Sing (Original Mix) by Ilya, GROOVE SKOOL on Beatport

    Blow The Roof Off (bomb!!!)
Blow The Roof Off (Original Mix) by DJ Hermit on Beatport

    Take This Out
Take This Out (Original Mix) by Callvin on Beatport

Beautiful - Jeremy Sylvester smashes this sound
Beautiful (Jeremy Sylvester Remix) by Phillip Ramirez, Funky Sensation on Beatport

Slightly genre pushing this one but I think it fits - Mad Villains the man of the hour for me. His stuff can get a bit teckier or just housey, but its got the bass and bump to count as garage inflected. Killer this one:

On a proper skippy garage beat thing though this tune really does it for me
Mind Of A Dragon - Music Box (Original Mix) [Red Balloon Dubs] :: Beatport[/QUOTE]

Some big DnB tunes I liked

Top dirtbox tune of the year for me....a touch of the Bad Company Dog FIght about it I think - but deeper
    Bungle - Cocooned Vip

From 2017 but so what, just discovered, probably my favourite dnb tune of the year, Makoto does melodic dnb better than anyone when he gets it right...
    Makoto - Fancy Free

Double bass dub-wise jazzstep roller - just a nice tune in the mix
Really like the jazzsticks label this came out on - some nice jazz inflected dnb on there
    Locksmith - Jahseh

G-Funk DnB - always wants to get played this one - pretty simple but good fun
    Vital - Real Shit

    More DnB

Maybe not one for the pursit in me, with a bit of autotune dancehall vocal on it, but its a conscious/sufferers message and its one of those tunes that will remind me of the year more than most
DJ Limited - Sun (Vocal Mix)

Its a tiny bit commerical Hospital sounding this one, but only a tiny bit, and on the whole its a very sweet liquid cut
The Vanguard Project - Loving Arms

    Ky - Keep It Fresh
Jump up i guess, dirty bomb thing, but really clever prodution going on if you listen closely - makes me screw up my face everytime
    heavy

Techy but really interesting tune this - love the chord to dirt ratio
    Current Value - City Syndrome

nicely done that stuff.... ( remember Subsoul as YT channel, now a label ? makes sense )

am guessing this is the new (ish) ' Tech House' , aka : bugger all to do with what Nils Hess / Mr C and the crew were doing back in the early Victorian era, and everything to do with the post shuffle / 'cutting shapes' thing in London, + also Anjuna Deep etc, and what US EDM jocks are all diving onto ( not 100 % sure mind)

yeah i think tech house can be a bit of a broad defining term these days...we need more sub sub genre names, fast!! those names are probalby out there tbh
those two above are on the EDM spectrum of things id say...but its the way you play em ;)

btw dont know if subsoul is a label - defintiely post tunes still - neither of those tunes came out on subsoul

    Best Sellers 2018 :: Beatport

Bestsellers often to be avoided at all costs i find, but still, must some good tunes in there somewhere :hmm: maybe

Turns out thats a edit extension of this 1980 cut from Switzerland!
Ronny Peller Hot Police - Don't Lie To Me / Gimmi More
    [IMG]

that is a sureshot crowdpleaser! DJ Die on the remix supposedly. Getting that
And that Borai Denham thing too

Talking of refixes and such this is a great 2018 update on a 94 Piano House Classic (which I didnt know of before - DJ Dove's Illusions)
crunchier kick and some tamborines help it a long nicely - hte original is great too though

Theres also this breakbeat bass remix of Doves Illusions bootleg style from 2017

NY Stomp also had this this year which I love - straight head down stomping NY House. The name fits the trade descriptions act!
(original 2012 - this was a 2018 repress with this aditional instrumental version i think? )
