I went to Glade! and Im going to the big chill, is that not allowed? ;)

Jesus, I'm surprised you're going to the Big Chill with all the smugness, children, and talk of mortgages. :p

Time to start another moan free thread? :D

e2a this is really gonna piss people off...as well as a 5 year old child I am taking a 7 months pregnant missus!!! Roll on lot's of 'sit down' moments! :D:D

i was supposed to be going to this with a bunch of mates but i've been ill and in hospital recently...so it looks like i'm not gonna be recovered enough in time to make it.. :( :( real shame cos i've missed all the other festivals i wanted to go to this year due to a spate of weddings amongst my mates!

if anyone wants my ticket, i'll sell it to you cheap and stick a few quid in the server fund...please PM me :)

This is from the Big Chill webite, preperations a week before the gates open...it's looking lovely :D

For those who've been before; re: taking stuff in - is it the same as Glasto? (ie crates of booze etc are OK). On the back of the ticket, it says you can't take alcohol in  Shurely shome mishtake?
Never taken any booze in m yself but I've seen plenty of people bring in their own supply.

Main reason I'm not going this year is that I've not been able to score anything, erm, a bit more chemical than that to take in :( and I'm fucked if I'm going there trying to score on site. Pity beacuse I liked the look of the line up this year. Hope y'all enjoy it those who's going. Looks like Fruitstock for me that weekend... at least I'll save a small fortune :D

thats the main reason your not going? surely there are other options? friends of friends, or something like that?

and even then, i dont see why you couldnt pick up when your there; having never been i dont know how the big chill is for prices, availablity etc, but at glade this year all i brought was a few beers, still managed to pummel my body with enough chemicals to kill a small dog ;)

of course, having said that, glade is a fair bit less family friendly than BC...but still, I need a better reason than that! go for one of the usual ones, something about corporate smugness or yuppification

if anyone wants a couple of tickets for big chill, me and my missus can't make it now. will sell for 90 each which is a 35 quid saving on each one

if interested mail me at [email protected]

live in herne hill, south london so can meet anywhere in london

cheers

Just back and had a good scrub.

Highlights...Nathan Fake, Jose Gonzales, Norman Jay :D

Lowlights...severe ankle sprain after a drunken stumble, two wasp stings, catching a cold.

That was fun. Coldcut rocked it. Rodrigo y Gabriela were amazing. No-one nicked anything from my tent. All pretty lovely really.

A friend of mine who's been a regular on the festi circuit for ten or fifteen years just got back and said "never again". Apparantly security were running rampant, steaming into peoples' tents with video cameras to record the evidence, seizing bags of pills and treading weed into the ground. Complete fucking nightmare, from the drug clampdown to the useless wardens causing a big bottleneck as everyone was trying to leave - anyone else feel that this year's Big Chill was the beginning of the end?

* just realised this is probably in the wrong thead, but there are s'many *

Sure they wern't talking about Glade?

The jam was caused by broken down cars not wardens btw. I know, I watched the AA recovery vehicle working to clear the problem(s).

We hung around, laying on the grass, beering, and waited until 3pm to get out, and had no bother

Were the security really acting like that? I saw nothing and heard nothing, weird

I had a great time

Bummer for those that didn't

Christ - I didn't see or hear anything like that either
And there's always a bit of a bottleneck on the Monday when folks are trying leave.

V  by your post Sueno. For me, it was the best Big Chill ever. We had a fecking ball!!

I saw 6/7 security descend on a group of people in front of the main stage field on Fri night and go through their stuff.....they disappeared and came back 10 minutes later as well

Only "incident" i saw though.

Just been perusing The Big Chill forums and this grumble thread but the moaning doesn't appear as bad as last year when Pete and Katrina closed the forums as a reaction to some of the comments! LOL! Seems to be standard stuff really for any A.N.Other festival of a large-ish size, most people are going on about it 'being too big' but then others say on the thread that it felt less crowded than last year, so go figure. One amusing thread that caught my eye has got to be the Lost Vagueness fisting - what do you think? as one, err, 'act' that they had on in the wee hours was provoking reaction...
