Big Chill forums closed...

They were awful. Especailly at night because there was no one on duty to empty them. Really really awful this time. I want to know where the clean toilets were, because I couldn't find them.

I did however bring my own 'john' this year - they'll probably be writing about me in the Telegraph.....

Hi reNnIe

Every bog I went to was sort of clean, I used to wait until the shit wagon had been, but for my ton I would not EXPECT clean bogs at a festy, no

I was almost expecting people to want a little train up the hill at night

Are our expectations a little too high for 30 000 people in a field?

It's a profit making festy, they cut corners

Last year Pete L came over all Mean Fiddler as he took to the stage to calm down the bog moaners - he said they had more bogs than was legally required - nicely sidstepping the issue of how many are practically required

They could sort this problem out no bother by providing twice as many bogs but it would cut their profits

I hate talking about bogs when at a festy, and fucking hell was there a lot of people on about it, (when yer trying to hear/see the bands)

How many shites were people having a day? You only have to put up with it once

:)

i agree...still tho, if i'm paying money, i'd hope/expect some decent toilets. not like home but semi decent is oook.

Eme went to use a bog straight after the shit wagon had left and she said it was absolutely disgusting!

It looked like there were less bogs on the actual campsites, so lots of people (mainly blokes, natch) took to pissing in the woods.

Is it possible to put a festival on and maintain clean toilets like a motorway service station? I suspect not. It's valid to feel however you do about them but get over it, or go to indoor events with fixed facilities.

Or spend some time in India to put things in perspective!!!

Back to the original discussion point, why is the forum still shut? I agree with Editor on this. If it's just about a rumour then a sticky thread would clear that up.

As far as I know the Forum has been temporarily closed because someone was making erroneous claims that someone had died on the site.

Shame, I was hoping one of the thieving scally tossers had got himself killed...

That's a shame to hear, Ground Elder...

Having said that, it sounds like the Big Green has still managed to maintain its' eco-friendly and non-corporate atmos which people go for! :)

Going to Shambala last weekend completely restored my faith in festivals and festival culture. It was a breath of fresh air - with the lovely vibe of a free party. No corporate stuff at all! :) Like Mike says, I go to festivals to get away from adverts etc.

I think the Big Chill has reached that critical mass where it needs to either downsize again or vastly improve its' security and facilities like Glastonbury did. I hope they manage to sort it out. I won't be going again unless they do... :(

IMO the same could be said for Shambala. There was some thieving going on and unauthorised sound systems setting up next to camping fields, which really pissed some people off and potentialy endangers next year's licence application.

that's a shame. in some ways it was inevitable - after the first couple of years, when people realised how fucking great it was, especially for a festival with fairly relaxed security, you're going to get opportunists like this.

it's also a lot bigger than it used to be - 3000 people were there the first (and only so far!) time i went, now it's more like 6000. no bad thing, but it's harder for people to notice what's going on with more people there.
