Beth Ditto at Evans

The bag's great - wish I'd popped into the one in Westfield now. I really like some of the dresses too. How generous are the sizes in Evans? I'm a size 12 but sometimes a 10 or a 14 depending on the cut. :hmm:

I don't think they're especially generous - as someone else pointed out - a Dotty P size 18 seems to be more generous than an Evans size 18 even though they're essentially the same company (in fact they often have almost exactly the same clothes). That being said, the 14 probably would still be too big for you - but worth a go if you're nearby.

I think it all looks very cool but none of it will suit me - my tummy is just too big. I don't like those tops that are elasticated at the hem line (on me) either as I feel like air blows them up and I just feel like a giant round beach ball. Still - if I'm in the area i might try something on just in case...

What do peope think of this dress:

I have to go to a wedding, might wear it with black trousers?

I have a dress just like that from Monsoon which I also wore to a wedding with black trousers.

I don't really see her giving out body image advice, it's a fucking clothes range! It's basically a clothes rage from 14-whatever and an antidote to the Kate Moss range I guess. Size 14 isn't exactly obese is it?

I also couldn't give a fuck about her armpits.

And I like the 80s.

I don't understand why people get so worked up about it, it's a clothes range not a campaign for everyone to be fat.

not talking bout the clothes range more her occasional collums and advice sections.

Just seems silly thast the media have been shying away from size 0's as its an extreme and unhelthy body image but seem to be falling over beth ditto. Its just same shit different end of the scale.

I also think its pretty stupid givig any celeb an advice collum but whatever.

I'm glad to see some interest in designing clothing for heavier women. I can't imagine why this has been such an ignored market for so long.

How about trashy AND fab? Actually, I can't decide whether I like it either. Your sofa is great though! And nice cleavage.

Fabulously trashy. :p

Depends on where you wear it. If you're taking it to the supermarket, then trashy. If you're going out to a dance club then fabulous. :)

I like the fuck offness of it. The I'm fat and I'll wear what I like so fuck you, look at me, look at MEness of it. But I'm sure that if this was in Evans and didn't have Beth Dittos name attached I would never have tried it on. And the colour is absolutely the Dairy Milk purple which I'm not sure about. And it's £65 which is far more than I'd ever normally spend on a top so I'd sort of like to be sure. Hmmmm. :hmm:

Oh and thank you for the sofa and cleavage compliments :D

I rather like the colour. Have you tried it with a great pair of heels and lots of make-up? It doesn't look cheap and trashy, ifyswim, like a lot of sequinned stuff does.

Ta! I know exactly what you mean about the supermarket/club thing and I think one of the problems is that I don't really go out clubbing and it may be a bit over the top for going out for dinner, etc.

Not yet, but I did pick up an extra-bright lippie in Superdrug just now. I do think if I keep it it will have to be a full on, trowel on the slap effort :D

You need to come to my dinner parties. I wore a slinky jumpsuit and killer heels at the last one. :D

It needs smoky eyes and pale lips imho.

Not hugely impressed with this collection tbh - I like the hoody but its a bit pricy!

Brix - that purple top looks better on than I thought it would!

Fab! wear big heels! And huge earrings!

I want the spider web jumper but it doesn't seem to have arrived in the shops yet. :hmm:

Do Evans do smaller sizes then?
What's your dinner party jumpsuit like? I just got a nice one from the Shop of Tops

Black and silky. From H&M a while back. Was complimented by an Italian fashion designer at a party - he said it was very Donna Karan. But then he was old and gay - probably needed his eyes examining. :D

What's your jumpsuit like - I'm rather into them at the moment. I want one for "daywear".

The smallest size Evans do is a 14, but that might be OK depending on style/generosity of fit. I had to buy a size 16 in H&M the other day , so you never know!

Well the decision on the purple top has been made. I got up this morning and realised that there were purple sequins everywhere - the bathroom, living room, kitchen, bedroom... Basically it leaves a trail of sequins behind it and a) it's too annoying to have to hoover up after yourself, and b) at that rate of shedding it won't look too impressive after a few wears.

So, it's going back. I was a bit undecided but this has made my mind up.

Hmmm, that's annoying - are they stuck on rather than sewn then? :hmm:

No they're sewn on, but I think the thread holding them is a bit too weak. And because the bottom of the top is elasticated there's a bit of yanking involved to get it on and off, which doesn't help. :hmm:

Well, OK. You've asked for it!

So... what do urbs reckon? Trashy? Or fab? I can't decide

Fabuously trashy  But I understand why it's going back :D

I have a sequinned cocktail dress (worn twice!) and I leave a trail of sequins everywhere too. It's bought and paid for by now so I don't care but picking them out of the plug-hole was a weird experience.

i didn't see this the first time i looked - might look fab (tho probably better if you're tall and slim, perversely.)
