Beth Ditto at Evans

<Nods> the only celeb I know of that does actually design and put all the effort in is Gwen Stefani for her L.A.M.B. range. A shoe factory I worked with made all her shoe samples. They had to spend three weeks a season with her whilst she designed it all. They said she works very hard on it.
Oh my gwennie

I have a green batwing dress from Peacocks. It's one of those ones wot is all baggy at the top then elasticated around the arse. I think I look the bees knees it but I just like green tbf.

I am not keen on the strapless dress thing - the bra work is too difficult for me.
The regular strapless bras don't really work for me. I need more substantial scaffolding to support my cleavage, and a basque seems to work.

I have a black strapless basque, which once I've got it on (a bit fiddly to fasten all the hooks and eyes with my still slightly dodgy limited-movement wrist) works well under a black strapless prom-style dress I have.

Agreed about the basque - I've found strapless bras tends to slide downwards, but basques more or less stay put.

BTW what on earth was that bright blue top I saw Beth Ditto wearing late on Thursday or Friday evening? Fair play to her if she chose it because she liked it but OMG how to make yourself look even more spherical in one easy lesson.

cool thread!
i just signed up for info on her collection:cool:
just want to see piccies of the clothes TBH.
i have some charity shop 80s gear going back years..do like some aspects of 80s clothes, not everything tho!
im wondering if beth's stuff might be a bit too "divine"(as in the actor/singer, not as in heavenly perfection:p)
for me..or maybe thats just her makeup thats divine:p

i like beth and her music of course,,saw a great gig by the gossip in a tiny bar in W1 back in 2003! wow what a live act! what a voice etc! not heard recent rick rubin produced stuff yet..

not sure if im large enough for evans.
are their 16's bigger or smaller than 16 in primark?
ill often buy a 16/18 top cos i dont want skin tight clothes

maybe there will be some fun tshirts, at a cheap price.
that people of any size can buy if they dont mind a bit baggy..

Evans starts at size 16 but it's a special Evans size 16 :hmm: For instance 20/22 in Primarni is noooooooooothign like a 20 in Evans.

Strange, I reckon that's Primark either paying lip service to having big sizes, or trying to save on material, or both - their smaller sizes always come up huge.

Oh, god alone knows. There's not real universal sizing guide is there? That all manufacturers stick to? I think it's a mix of historical measurements and new ones I suppose.

i thought evans started at a 14 now - trying to attract the mainstream market more.

evans cut is similar to marks and spencers for sizing.

more generous than dotty p's, who are essentially the same company, weirdly enough.

i thought that one of the ways primark was able to sell so cheap was that they didnt employ checkers, so that sizes arent uniform across the ranges, or in fact even within the same line. i'm a 6/8 in most shops apart from things like shirts where i need to go up a size for boobs, but my primark wardrobe ranges from kids clothing aged 11 to a size 16 jumper. all fit fine. i've got 3 tops from there, same style but diff colours. all physically the same size, but labeled as 8, 10 and 12!

due to my big size 9 feet, i shop at evans for shoes, but will be intrested to see what the Beth Ditto range will bring :)

Oooh, can you point me in the direction of these? Just got my hair cut and not sure my clip thing will work :(

Somewhere like accessorize?

I got mine in H&M about a month ago? But yeah accessorise would probably have them but I reckon a lot of the shops would have something like it in at the moment.

Jesus! Quote from an Giles Hattersley article linked to from Evans site, when referring to Ditto clasping him to her bosom:

'There’s always that slight worry that fat people are going to be a bit whiffy'

:eek: :mad::(

Smelly fat aliens, not like real peoples at all

I worry that hugging a skinny person will give me bruises on my peachy skin so I avoid tham and stare at them in discomfort :(
