Bestival 2008 line-up!

Totally.

I think that people just need to bring some properly >waterproof< clothing that keeps them dry. Saw so many people wandering about soaked, fine for one day but if that's your lot for five days...

well i think alot of people who bought 'waterproofs' realised quite quickly that a fashion based nylon jacket isnt going to keep you dry!!!

i wore a tshirt, hoodie then a poncho under my army jacket, and i STILL got wet!!!!

it was extreme!

best fancy dress???????????

:D:D:D

It was great! I had a blinding time. Love Bestival.

Hardly saw anything though :D Think it was around 5 acts all in all.

Well I had a great time. The weather was really bad with Friday being the worst day I've ever experienced at a festival and I've been doing this since 1996. I did ask a couple of friends about their worst day and they both just said Glade and glazed over. :D

This all being said Saturdays weather was ok and sunday was fine as was Monday for packing up in. I thought the organisers did quite a lot to make the site bearable, with a lot of wood chippings being laid in the main arena.

Musically I lucked out a bit and didnt see much I liked, I guess I was just unlucky. Pendulum were good fun as were Underworld, hot chip and 808 state for a bit of nostalga, gutted I missed the Specials I didnt know they were on. :(
Amy Winehouse provided us with the worst live performance I've ever witnessed, mind it was my own fault for thinking it would be any different.

My only gripe with the festival were about Bollywood, there were so many acts I wanted to see but I could never get in because it was so rammed, I missed Freestylers, The Nextmen and DJ Hype, bugger. It also had no ventalation so it was about the hottest and most unpleasant place on Earth. Me thinks a bigger better tent is required.

Just a note on the Police. I have never seen so many sniffer dogs in operation, we were all forced to walk past the dogs being treated like criminals just for attending a festival. A friend of mine got wrongly identified by a dog and spent a very scary 20 minutes being threatened by the Police. Another guy I bumped into told how he had also been wrongly identified and had endured a full strip search with a quick peek up the jacksie for good measure. Lets face it, it's far from ideal being sexually assulated at the start of the festival.
Of course it was a totally futile effort by the Police again as the proffesional dealers were still out in force as anyone who witnessed the scary 'turf war' fight in Bollywood on Saturday night will confirm.

turf war fight!!!!!!

holy shizzle!

This being Bestival however, even the drug dealers were nice and polite.

'You take my pitch.'

No, after you.

'I insist'

'AFTER YOU'

<BLAAP, BLAPP>

No-one offered me any drugs :(

Clearly you don't look dodgy enough. Please report back to the DF immediatly for some tips. ;) (either that or you were preoccupied with chucking up in tents whilst they were selling their wears)

I saw the same load quite a lot, lord knows how they got it through security, maybe they were on different passes or something.

Despite the rain/mud I had a friggin' AMAZING time (as ever)! :)

Highlights ... The Nextmen (blew my mind!) ... Chrome Hoof ... The Specials ... The Mules ... Freestylers ... The Count and Sinden ... Chas and Dave ... Magnetic Man ... pieminister (as always) ... freshly made pizzas ... hearing Fake Blood 'Mars' EVERYWHERE ... wandering into the woods on Sunday night to find it's all illuminated with mood lighting - fantastic!

Low points ... missing Sugarhill Gang and DJ Yoda because the tents were closed off ... Aphex Twin being too quiet and me being too knackered by 2am to really enjoy it ... trying several times to meet up with Sunray and failing ... Jeffrey Lewis being cancelled ... the rain (obviously!) ... and the mud (but less so) ...

I'll be buying my ticket for next year when the early bird ones go on sale! :D

Well that was fun, don't think I managed to see anyone I intended on seeing.

Heard Scroobius Pip et al, MBV and the wedding present whilst being ill on Friday. Squeezed in to see a bit of DJ Derek and Nextmen (both of whom played their usual sets, which isn't per se a bad thing, but felt like I'd heard it all before, but they kept the tents rammed and dancing. Greg Wilson kept on having power cuts and the PA would start playing a song by Pink, much to his confusion. Managed to miss most of Aphex Twin and Roots Manuva

Amy = lame. Never seen so many people run away from the main stage so quickly.

Great outfits depsite the weather, including 5 people wearing one Arran sweater. And they'd put lots of thought into the site, even if those thoughts didn't see to include the possibility of rain. Saw one broken leg but not one single police dog. They weren't anywhere near the campervan camping (which on the whole stayed dry and actually had grass in it). That Hill of Doom though, christ, I've muscles where I never knew muscles existed.

Thats coz your rubbish, I was standing by the main tent wearing hi-viz clothing, for 8 hours. Serious fail.

God knows, though tbh I was fine with what I had. :) (the sickness was one night  )

I didn't see any proper security apart from OB....

Me too, I had such a good time I'll pay to go next year. When are they on sale?

I saw them in that jumper it was briliant wasn't it?! :D

The fancy dress was great.

Sounds like you all had a good time anyway :)

I think it must be rough on first time festy goers if it's like that - hardened types just shrug it off. :D

That WI cake tent sounded lush - did anyone manage to sample their wares> :D
