Bestival '07

Comes from the organisers of Sunday Best at the Tea Rooms in Wandsworth Road doesn't it? That would make it pretty unHoxton. Though pretty Cla'am.

I'd be interested in going but I have this feeling that festivals are not a good idea this year.

No! The weather was clearly shit in June, July and August so that it could be beautiful for september festivals! :)

Right, I thought I'd bump this as it's only a week away. I'm going for the first time, can anyone who's been before tell me how strict they are on the rule about taking no booze with you into the arena. I mean, do they do bag searches etc or do they only stop you if your carrying it openly? Cheers.

When I was therer a couple of years ago, they'd take a beer of you if you had it in your hand, but were only doing the odd cursory bag searches on the way into the arena. It may have changed though...

nah that's pretty much what it was last year, if you had it in your hand you got told to 'use it or lose it', but didn't really see bag-checks although I'm sure they probably did..

*starts to get excited* :)

Wish I was going :(

Although last time I went, my car broke down right outside the site, so after the festival it took three AA call outs to get me, a mate and the car back to west London. God bless the AA.

Have passed the link along - cheers again, dude! :)

nay problem, the link appeared on the bestival bulletin board (and said it was only going to be posted there), just thought I'd pass on the info to fellow urbanites on this thread..

Man. I'm in this limbo place of an old friend, who is playing at Bestival this weekend, just telling me that I can "maybe" have his spare guest pass & that he'll let me know fo' sure the morrow.
Aggghh.
*crosses fingers*
nosos, if I go, I'll meet up with ya :)

Cheers but after spending 5 days on the Electric Picnic, losing all my stuff in the proces and taking lots of drugs I'm going to avail myself of the opportunity I still have to back out of stewarding. It's a shame because Bestival sounded great but if I set off for another festival on Thursday morning I fear I might die.

Hope you get there and enjoy yourself :)

I don't have any Gucci sunglasses or a stuffed parrot.

Not sure what to do really.:(

Me neither. I haven't got any dress up stuff planned as i got my dates wrong and thought it was next weekend :D

Apart from the inevitable clashes. I've noticed that Bat for Lashes is first on the main stage on Sunday morning

Don't know about Remi Nicole, but Seasick Steve is ace. Saw him a few times this year. He's a really nice fella too. I've met him and he called me m'am :)

Talking of clashes, strangely he was clashing with the Chemical Brothers at Glastonbury too. We chose him over the Chems and weren't disappointed...
