Best West End/Central London Pubs

We do seem to! :)

My friends, being somewhat too expert at bowling, moaned about the quality of the lanes

Spoilsports!

And I didn't get to drink any white russians  But other than that good, and we went on a (thread-relevant ;) ) mini pub crawl taking in:

Queen's Larder nr Russell Square (lovely building, quaint place but slightly lacking atmosphere)

Ship Tavern nr Holborn (I really like this pub).

Oh I do love a bit of a pub crawl :D

The Ship is a nice pub. Another good 'un nr Holborn is the Princess Louise (Sam Smiths again), although it was closed for refurb last time I walked past. I hope they don't ruin it. :(

Marylebone High Street has some good ones. Just far enough off the beaten track to not be too busy, but close to Baker Street, Bond Street and Marylebone stations.

My favourite pub around there is The Gunmakers. On a good night some local drunk will bust out the piano and the whole pub will burst out in song. Good times.

My least favourite pub which I always end up at being across the street from work, is the Prince Regent - slowest bar staff in London.

It reopened two weeks back. They've not changed the style, but they have put all Victorian-effect glass partitions in; don't know whether this is a new idea or they're going back to an older design...

The lovely mirrors and industrial size toilets are still in there, though they've ripped out the similarly sized sinks (in the gents' at least)

I like there.

De Hems on Macclesfield St just off Shaftesbury Ave. Dutch pub with good atmos and lovely beers. Upstairs is good especially if downstairs gets crowded.

It's not a pub, but Le Beaujolais is an ace French bar just off Charing Cross Road. You can practically smell the saucisson.

I'd never heard of it but went there last night. Fantastic place. Great music all night. The food was good. Wine was pretty pricey, but whatever. The place was absolutely heaving. No room to breathe. Full of giddy regulars who took to tickling everyone. My flatmate wasn't very impressed but it was pretty funny to watch him squirm. By 9:30 the place emptied out quite a bit and it became much more civilized and we were able to sit down. Top notch.

It's a good place to drink, but you don't wanna eat there if you're veggie.

I quite like the Maple Leaf although preferably when Canada aren't playing ice hockey on the TV as you can't move or get served.
"30 pieces of suicide chicken please" or maybe that's just us.
