Just rememered another: The Shirinking Ray a la Duke Nukem 3D.

Bollocks, I was just gonna post that.

Then you run around the room trying to stamp on them.

Then you look at the floor for forensics.

The you say 'he he he. Come here baby'

<you can download this you know>

Oh yes! The chainsaw in Serious Sam Second Ecounter (I know another SS weapon but the game rocks! Hmmm mental note to self, re-install Serious Sam tonight)! Hacking enemies up with that shit was brilliant! :D

The gravity gun in HL2 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

Physics can be fun!

Who Knew???? :D

Yep I agree with this 100%

Also the Rail gun in Quake 3. Download the patch for the spiral shot - it's way cool.

This should have been a poll.

The repeating shotgun from resident evil 3 is also very nice. You fire it like the terminator when he's on his bike.

You get the shotgun parts on the seventh time you beat nemesis I think. Remember it's not cool to run...lol

Can't belive I found a picture of it!!!

Theres a gun in unreal tournament called the ripper gun. It shoots out spinning razor edged discs that bounce off walls and take off heads.
Theres just something about standing round the corner firing off a load of razors and walking into a room with 3 decapitated corpses mid fall. :D

Rocket launcher/shotgun combo in quake. Blowing someone into the air then switching to shotgun and shooting them before they came down. Looked cool and demoralised opponents.

the shotgun in the original doom. The reload action and accuracy and general carnage were so mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

By far the coolest gun in the world.

Oh and the gravity gun in half life 2 untill the novelty wears off. and almost every sniper rifle ever invented but esepcilly the unreal turnemant 2004 one. I could get a silly number of kills on the classic capture the flag thingy. Standing on the top of the big spire thingy and just taking shot after shot after shot was such good stress relief.

what about those sticky things in splinter cell? the cameras were fucking cool and was there a grenade you could stick to walls wasn't there?

that game had some shit hot stuff

I acn't believe no-one has mentioned the Cerebral Bore from Turok 2 on the N64 - surely the game with the most ridiculour weapons ever? For those who haven't played it, the gun fires a head-seeking missile (yes, that is meant to say head) that drills itself into your opponents head and then explodes in an unhelthy shower of gibs.

The show stopper though has to be the entire game of Unreal Tournament. Gangsta-stylee pistols with two Enforcers? Check. Gun that fires exploding blobs of green goop? Check. A Flak Cannon that acts like a shotgun on horse steroids and will liquify someone at 20 paces? Check. 6-shot rocket launcher with heat-seaking ammo that also doubles as a grenade launcher? Check. Gatling cannon that pinions bodies against walls as they quiver their last death rictus? Check. Sniper rifle that'll get you a M-M-M-M-Monster Kill on Facing Worlds in 10 seconds flat? Check. That game was so full of awesomely cool and well balanced weapons.

Other honourable mentions go to:
Double RPC-90's in GoldenEye (in fact, double pretty much anything in GoldenEye)
Sentry/laptop guns in Perfect Dark
Rippers(?) in Perfect Dark - they'd unload 100 bullets in about 2 seconds
And, of course, the utterly venerable Railgun

Beat me to it with the cerebral bore - also the Nuke was pretty good.
Chicago Typewriter in Resident Evil 4.
The different cannon you could get on your ship in Skies of Arcadia.
Scorpion's funny whip thing in Mortal Kombat.

I’d forgotten about that one – t’was a good un. Perfect Dark was a great game actually the best bit was when you got the heart rate pills which slow down time (not a gun obviously but worth a mention). Busting in to rescue the hostages in slow motion as the terrorist try and react was great. Bodies flying everywhere, guns spinning slowly through the air as you take them out with head shots right between the eyes. Great bit of game design.

Where can i download it from?

Doom Shotgun or Counterstrike M4A1, both *just right* in every aspect - satisfying sound, good accuracy and perfectly balanced in handling and damage to be the most effective weapon in the right hands as well as showing up lesser players. The M4A1 especially seperates the men from the boys.

In the original Deus Ex, the electric riot prod was my best friend.

Fucking class game, but I have to admit I dumped the cattle prod about 2 minutes into it. I much preferred a) making guards stumble blindly into my gas grenade traps and then picking them off with the crossbow bolts between the eyes and b) using those flamey-missile things to set legions of henchmen on fire as they charged down the corridor towards me :D

Did anyone else find it odd that the missile launcher slowed you down when you were aiming it, but not when it was stored in your backpack?

Yeah, I'm still a big fan of PD, there were so many ideas in that game it was unbelievable - shame it came right at the end of the N64's life, and even more of a shame that Nintendo forced Rare to remove the "use the GameBoy camera to map your own face onto your character in multiplayer" function at the behest of parents who thought it would turn their children into slavering maniacs.

I'm kinda half anticipating the Perfect Dark sequel out on the Xbox 360, but it's been a loooooong time since Rare made a great game.

Edit; just remembered the can of worms that is, er, Worms. Jeebus, I'm gonna be here all day...!

Super Nashwan Power for Xenon 2 on the Amiga, your ship unleashed a laser that obliterated every enemy on the screen and the name is  as fuck.

That "Plastique" weapon on the "Silo" level on GoldenEye - go invincible, set it off and then run around with expolsions following you. EVERYONE DIES.... :D
