Best tune in the world EVER !!! - nominations

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?

I couldn't possibly nominate the BEST tune in the world EVER! Everytime I think of one, I then think of another one just as good, if not better...

Best Tune ever

Menthol and Eucalyptus. End of.

But failing that, "Heard It Through the Grapevine" by The Slits.

If we're talking the Wedding Present, "I'm Not Always So Stupid"

Maybe New Order - "Temptation"

Or This Mortal Coil's "Song To The Siren"

I can't listen to Ray Charles sing 'Georgia On My Mind' live without tearing up :o

im listening to it now....its different live somehow...i love both versions but the live one is very moving! :o

'You Really Got Me' by the Kinks.

Perfect pop song - punk as fuck and that guitar riff still kicks like a bastard 40 years after it was recorded.

Oh yeaaaaahhhhh .......

well your just wrong. and anyway i don't reckon a cover can be the best tune ever.

dave

Why not? Some covers are shite, but there have been a few which have been outstanding, such as Nirvana's cover of Man Who Sold The World.

their cover of leadbellys 'where did you sleep last night' is outstanding too...

and also their covers of the Meat Puppets, and the Vaselines for that matter.

the unplugged nirvana album is their only album which I regard as being genius. Beautiful songs.

But my favourite tune is probably Gouge Away by Pixies, for now it is anyway...

Fools Gold - Stone Roses

I still remember seeing the vid on 'The Chart Show' before I'd heard of them and being blown away by it.

It blows me away every time I hear it.

Yeah, I hate Nirvana, but I love their version of that. And cover versions can be ace... This Mortal Coil's version of You and Your Sister, for example.

I'm also not sure I could possibly nominate one single favourite tune ever, but some suggestions would be:

Jack the Ripper - Morrissey
America - Simon and Garfunkle
I Know you Got Soul - Eric B and Rakim
Frozen - Madonna

I could go on and on, but I shall stop there.

Ditto my faves of all time are

The Source feat Candi Staton - You got the Love
Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy
John Lennon- Imagine
Randy Crawford- One day I'll fly away

I guess my faves aren't based on musical genius more emotional links and memories to the songs. :D

That is an amazing song... especially the kinda orchestral mix they used at the very end of the last episode of Sex and the City. It makes me blub now!

Yeh makes me cry too - though not at SATC (although that did at well) just have so many emotional attachments to songs.

Gonna play it and have a cry now :( :)

That could be 'Tears' by Frankie Knuckles. Probably the best tune ever ... if you are munted. But then isn't everything? :)

it isn't - it's the 'now voyager' mix of 'you got the love', iirc.
