Best thing with Custard?

My mum used to make this every few days, with custard. With golden syrup though, not black treacle. I used to love the really wet syrupy bits at the top of the pudding, where the syrup had sank to the bottom of the cup while cooking. I used to save that bit until last. Thank you for reminding me, I can almost smell and taste pudding and custard now

At last, Lynne8 mentions treacle tart. The only thing for custard. And runny custard at that. Here it is called 'Creme Anglaise' I intend, as my life's work, to get the little garlicky heathens to heat it up.
