OMFG your a closet Christian Slater fan arent you
I have no strong opinions on him either way - I just like the film - it's got Joey Pants and James Gandy in it and a lovely, though pilfered soundtrack. And I loved Brad Pitt's stoner

Oooh yes! *does Churchill dog nodding*

Forgot about that!

He's the hottest Ive ever seen him in that film! :o

I like true romance.

It has:
A sinister Chris Walken being insulted by Denis Hopper
Guns
and best of all Elvis

Not my fav though, even if i do own a copy.

Jackie Brown, by far. So far it's the only genuinely great film Tarantino has made. I takes a while to get going, but it's the only one of his films that shows real depth. Unlike the rest of his work it has characters that transcend their pulp origins and become real 3-dimensional human beings with a career best performance by Pam Grier to anchor it all. One of the very best films of the 90's.

I never much cared for Reservoir Dogs, though can see why other people liked it.

Pulp Fiction is a very smart film and lots of fun, but too many imitations by lesser talents have taken some of the shine off.

True Romance has good moments, but is undone by Tony Scotts typically ponderous, flashy direction and Kill Bill 1 and Death Proof are good fun as long as they are taken purely as exercises in style. I think Kill Bill 2 should be cut down to 30 minutes and stuck at the end of Part 1. I ended up loosing patience being asked to emphasise with characters who were only cardboad thin in the first place. From Dusk Till Dawn seems like two films stuck together which have nothing in common.

Yeah but the vampire bits are soo random and not in a good way either. Although I like all the bits you mention, PieEye, plus the fact that the film has Chich? or Chong? one of them, playing loads of roles and the bit which never fails to make me laugh - one of the band members playing a severed torso as a guitar when it's all kicking off in a bar. :o

But still, it's not a great movie. :(

how are the vampire bits random?? They go to a bar run by vampires and when it gets dark the vamps come out. How is that random - vampires follow dark as sure as night follows day!

*stunned*

And it IS a great movie!!!!

The problem is that once the vampires turn up the film looses all interest in its characters, which it did a great job in developing until then. It just turns into one long massacre, which to me was a bit boring.

well....yes :(

But they needed to get out of there, Reno. It was pretty dangerous!

((((Pie Eye))))) :)

I just think they could have something with the vampire alter egos of the lead characters instead of just killing them off. Unlike many other monsters vamps retain some of their personalities and that would have had an interesting effect on the dynamics between the characters. As Tarantino is good with relationships and dialogue I would have liked for some of it to carry through into the second half of the film. All investment you have in the characters goes out of the window.

I agree. I'm was bummed that Salma Hayek was wasted so early and the mad little Mexican guy that ran the place should have had some more time. He was hilarious :D

Now my post makes no sense, Reno  You're fucking with the chronology of this thread - much like Tarantino does in Pulp Fiction actually! I like it! :)

Exactly that!

I think Reservoir Dogs is a bit shit, I've never understood what the fuss was about.

Kind of reminds me of the John Woo films Hard Boiled (and also The Killer) which came out in the UK at a similar time, neither of which I particularly like.

I love True Romance...

Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are great, but... I've seen them so many times and although they're clever and funny, I can't engage with the characters - it's all smart chat.

But true romance <sigh>

I love Clarence and 'Bama. I love their tattoos and the sweetness and the love and the violence. Patricia Arquette never looked finer, ever. Christopher Walken is sublime. Elvis in the bathroom...

That film is just aces.

Except Gary Oldman. His bit is a bit shit.
