Why no EAT STATIC????

The best dance band since 1991 - still going strong!

:)

Absolute toss.
They played in the tent next to us at Endorse It! this year.
Every time I went outside they appeared to be playing exactly the same tune.
Did have the brain on stage though.

This was on the second night, and there had apparently been noise complaints about the stage they were on. Unperturbed, they played so loud that we had to keep turning stuff up next door. If any of you went to see Phil Hartnoll on the last night and wondered why it was so quiet, then I guess you have Eat Static to thank for that.

I seem to remember I was trying to talk to you with eatstatic in the background. they were shit.

why are some people claiming orbital weren't a rave band? have they actually listened to the stuff they were producing in the days of rave?

i have a record of altern8 playing live in the carpark of shelleys. it's ace. :D

yeah, I went on at length about how dnb etc does actually go somewhere and does something, whereas psytrance just sort of weebles along with its one idea and is generally shit.

I was right off my toof at this point and I still thought they were utter cack.

have to say prodigy they always put on a top show

orbital and underworld provided 2 of my best nights out ever, but they have also been a bit shit too on other times ive seen them

seen loads of top bands play live at the old manchester megadog nights:cool: god i miss those days:(

the chems, underworld, orbital and leftfield are not really rave bands like the others...

i'll only really know thrm from mid 90's onwards, but underworld are a techno act surely?

PS Praga Khan, what a name.

Totally agree! Rave was Rave, breakbeat hardcore madness.
The chems, underworld, orbital and leftfield above were just a backlash against rave if anything for your music snobberists :p

Err Orbital were very mch a ''rave'' band.

That's true, but when 'rave' splintered into numerous sub-genres after 91/92ish Orbital, Leftfield, etc moved into a different direction (megadog/crusty/free-festi raves) rather than the 'ardcore/jungle direction that other rave acts went down. While all sorts was played at raves in 1990, Slipmat & Lime would've been unlikely to turn up on the same bill as Orbital or Underworld by '93.

I 'spose people's definitions will depend on when they got into raves and what they were into.

well I voted orbital but the two times i saw underworld (in 93 and 96) they were excruciatingly brilliant, it has to be said.

Lab 4? :D they just stood there looking hard playing DATs, and they got really shit after about 2001 :(

God I saw them at Tyssen Street (prolibly at *ahem* pendragon :o ) in 97 or so - very full-on cheesytastic acid/trance stuff. I think I've still got their 'witchdoctor' 12" knocking about somehwere in the more arcane reaches of my dusty record collection... :o again
